Electric fans

I wanna replace the mechanical fan on the Rover with an electric fan, but I have never done anything like that before so I have a few ?'s. First, what size should I look for? Should it be the same size as the factory fan? I will be mounting it in a pull style position because the factory rig has two electic pusher fans for the A/C.

Do I need a thermostat to turn the fan on? I fugured that it would just be on all the time except for water crossings.

Anything else that I should look for?

Mine is 16",

Who cares what the stock one is, CFM is where it's at.

Yes???... Maybe... I run mine on a manual switch, why wait untill it's hot before you start to cool. Plus, I can run it with the key off.

A good junk yard fan the can be found for a good price is the Taraus fans...not many other (even aftermarket) fans will out cool it. Easy to find too...I say do a termostat because you dont need to run it all the time, but have it on a manual switch too so you can turn it off for water crossings or like shawn has his so you can turn it on and cool the engine while the key is off...

Why do you want to replace your engine driven fan? Electrics will never move the same amount of air as an engine driven fan.

EZ (went back to engine driven fans with a good shroud (important))

Mostly because the factory fan uses a silicon filled thermostatic clutch that is 180 bucks to replace. And I like the idea of having the cooling at low RPM's

You should have known better when you bought something british......haha

The question is: Does your current fan not cool at low RPM's?

Can you beleive the new Range Rovers are IFS/IRS? Pathetic.

I run a cadilac electric fan on mine(The larger fan on the dual setup).... Verry easy to find at the pic n pull and should be enough cfm considering it cools a v8 motor.....
I run a switch like shawn. That way I can run the fan when the engine is off or turn the fan off if im doing a water crossing.
