By the way, where are the pics? We had two gals on photo duty, but I haven't seen any pictures!

We had other stuff to do last night... I will get those to you today!
And it was a great day yesterday! It was really good to see so many people show up!

We went up Forest Lake a bit and ate some lunch, on the way out I messed around on that first big boulder trying to get the K5 twisted up as much as possible. I heard a metallic "tink" but didn't think much of it. When I got home I found a broken shackle bolt.

I christened Bob's ride for the day the "Kidneybuster 5000". It was evil and scrambled my insides but good. But I held it down!

Try it in a QuadwheeldriveduallyCummins with 70psi in the front and 60psi in the rear, then tell me about rough.

My Duallycrewcab had 80psi and Kelsey and I managed to break a hubs, spin all 6 wheels on dirt, and utter rearrange our spleens on a local "trail". I was not impressed. ("Trail" is a mild uphill w/superhardpack in the beginning.) Very harsh ride offroad.

The maze of trails that cross the creek to the campground at the start of the Pittsburgh Lake trail. It's not completely blocked, there is one road still open, they were however talking about blocking that off later and making people hike across "until we get it rehabilitated, then we may reopen it"

Hmmm... I'd be interested to hear more about that. I can count all the trails that have been "reopened after restoration" on one finger, scratch that... no fingers?? Too boot the Pitsburg Lake trail has VERY historic access and should have been fought when closed 15 years ago IMO. I've camped at the trailhead several times, and used it as a parking lot for hiking Pitsburg too.

Where do they propose hikers park? Further towards the main road? I had some sense of safety knowing my rig wasn't parked near the main road when hiking Pits.

Funny thing is we built fences right at the campground (preventing people from driving Pits) a couple years ago. When do we build the fence at Tibble? ;)

The map I made for the FS to explain my plan:

http://www.u4wda.org/temp/proposed_fence.jpg

No, there won't be any fence to close off the road to the Pittsburgh Lake trailhead (big rock campground in your parlance). At least we won't be involved in such a fence. It only moves us further and further away from reopening Pit.

There are 3 entrances to the Pittsburgh Lake trailhead parking area that come up out of the creek (and all three are within 50 feet of each other). The long term plan is to close two so there's only one. Maybe that's where the confusion came in.

Yup. The guy I got my info from is a summer guy (teaches school), and he didn't seem to have his finger on exactly what is planned. The one fence they had us plant will be gone with the run off next spring....

The shear number of people in that canyon every weekend is becoming a problem... a big problem.....

10-4, that makes more sense... It would be cool for each of the spurs to become their own "group sites", once entrance and not connected to the other. A stratigically located firepit and something to prevent weaving amongst the sites.

Exactly. That's the problem. Having access in that little group site provides access to the riparian area to the east and everything to the north and south. It'll take 700 feet of fence to do it right and then remove what we built on Saturday. Could be spread out over the next 2-3 years.

Malfunctioning Camera FTL... Thankfully the rest of them turned out even after a dunk in the stream.
