Emulsion shocks vs air shocks

I have always ran fox air shocks I came across these emulsion shocks on f-a-o.com. They appear to be an air shock also, I am wondering the difference. The only diff I can see is the shaft is smaller. Is this a huge disadvantage. I did a little more research and found that fox also sells an emulsion shock. Any help in schooling me about this would be great, thanks in advance.

An emulsion shock is not the same as an air shock. It is a shock absorber only (without a remote reservoir), it will not support the weight of the vehicle like an air shock will. A threaded body emulsion shock is more commonly known as a coilover. Of course, a threaded body emulsion shock with coil springs installed will support the weight of the vehicle.
