They go out of control, and don't want to try to work things out. I had a guy throw a washing machine out of the back of his truck, and then thow snow balls at us. He was about 65 years old and I am just glad he didn't have a gun! Anyway, a few days later I get a Christmas card in the mail. It read as follows:
"To the two young men who tried to help unload the used washing machine that we purchased on Nov. 26.
It wasn't hooked up untill Sat. Dec. 15 by my granddaughter. It shot sparks and smoked up the room.
I'm really sorry I got out of line, losing my temer the way I did. I'm sure you would have worked something out if I hadn't lost my cool, which I promise doesn't happen frequently. I don't expect anything now, especially the way I treated these two young men. I feel badly and it has bothered me somewhat to the point that I want to give them each a $20 gift certificate to the Provo Town Mall. I apologize and hope they will forgive me. They were only doing their job.

P.S. I'm glad I was a poor shot with the snowball, espeially since they were bigger, faster, younger, and smarter than I was."

It is nice to see someone take ownership of their actions, it is alot easier to just stay mad and blame the other guy. I think the holidays can make us all act a little crazy.
Happy New Year everyone.:)

I know, I have such a reputation for getting out of hand.

Trust me, I have my stories. Guys ninja-kicking doors, getting DUI's, shouting matches with random people for no reason. I got to the point where I didn't care and would just tell them to leave and if they hesitated I called the cops and let them sort it out.

I sent a lawyer a HD Direct TV box to replace one that he had defective (really not my problem but I'll help) and he was refusing to return the defective one to me until he received a check in the mail for the credit I put on his credit card (he was an idiot). He kept explaining to me how he was reserving his right to return everything and I told him that he's a smart guy and didn't need me to tell him that holding posession of property that he hasn't paid for and doesn't belong to him that the rightful owner is trying to regain posession of probably isn't a tree he wants to bark up. He tried to get all lawyery on me and after I explained I don't care nor am I personally intimidated and I was going to forward the matter to Circuit City's corporate lawyers he decided that wasn't a tree he wanted to bark up and my Direct TV box showed up the next day.

I hate people that try to intimidate and push customer service people around. the worse you are to me, the less you get your way

The washer that he was trying to return ended up damaged beond repair when he wouldn't let the "two young men" help him get it out of his truck. We had to move to keep from getting smashed as he pushed it out on it's lid. However I agree with you, and am working on getting him a refund, of whatever profit we had from the sale. So he would end up just paying for the parts and labor we had into it.

It also seems that the more they are in the wrong, the faster they fly off the handle. If you know you are right, then it is alot easier to stay calm untill you get your way.

once, while working at the Verizon store in Circuit City, I had a gentleman come in asking to pay on his bill. He wanted to write a check. It is our practice to explain that we run our checks through electronically, void them, and give them back to the customer with the receipt. lots of times when we say this the customer opts to use the debit card to save time. This snowflake goes off on how this is unlawfull and he refused to give me a check. I explained that if we didn't run checks electronically that we could hold it for weeks and lose it among other bad things. I offered to take the payment on debit/credit card. He ranted that fraud was a huge problem and that he would never carry one. (it is obvious the guy is trying to write a bad check) I tell him that we still take cash and will show him on the computer that his payment was applied to the right account. He refuses, telling me that it is not safe to carry cash. (wtf, I am out of options) He is still talking up a storm with woes of fraud and stolen identity stories. The line behind him is growing and I am the only one there.:(

At this point, I look at him and say: "perhaps you have a goat you would like to trade us!":D:rofl: the people behind him burst into laughter, and he stormed off. mad as hell!!!!

I got called into the manager's office the next day, but it was worth it!!!;)

While i was working up in Denali Park AK, i had an elderly spanish lady traveling with her daughter show up for their bus tour 45 minutes late... and it was my fault somehow.. so i start workin my magic trying my to get them on a tour, all while the mother is ranting nonstop in very broken english... then out of nowhere she screams, "I'm going to kill myself!"... i just starred at her, looked at one of my coworkers, and back at the lady... she was irrate, and adimant that she would kill herself.. it took me off guard to the point that i couldn't speak due to trying to hold back from laughing.

anyways, i got the phsyco on a bus.. :)

nice. goat.

I have so many stories...I had a customer that was just leaning over the front counter at CC a few years back. Everyone at the front counter was clearly busy and I was heading back to the warehouse to help with something. When I came back around he was still sitting there...still looking like someone had killed his first born...and the front counter was still helping the same people as before (it had been maybe 3 minutes). I asked him if he had been helped and he said "does it look like I've been helped?". I just said "I'm sorry sir, unfortunately I can tell just by looking at someone whether or not they've been helped". I just walked off and let him wait. I don't have patience for assholes.

Last May, Chris was hired to bury 3,000 feet of cable TV in Holly Colorado after a tornado went through there. That whole job was fraught with issues, but the biggest problem was the schizophrenic home owner that has been taken to court by the town to get her institutionalized! Chris was digging in the utility easement and here she comes running up to him yelling at him to get off her property. Chris explains that it's the utility easement, not really her property, and she then goes medievel on him yelling and carrying on and threatening to call the police. At this point, Chris realizes she's a nut job and gets back on the trencher. Crazy lady proceedes to follow him shoveling the dirt BACK into his ditch! He gets to the power pole where the cable box needs to be mounted and she informs him that the pole is hers and he needs to get the hell away from it. After another screaming match, she goes inside to call the police on him and her neighbors call Chris over to their fence and tell him that she is truly certifiable and he needs to call the police because she really is unstable. At this point, Chris just wants to get out of there so he keeps working. Crazy lady comes back out and stands right behind him while he's hand digging over her water line and she was doing all these freaky hand gestures trying to put hexes on him! Finally, after calling the police and getting an escort out there, he got the cable across her property. And that was our client from hell for this year.

I work at a used car dealership that mainly focuses on bad credit. I run their shop etc. We have a drivetrain only warranty but do other owrk for our customers just to keep them happy for just our cost on parts. A lady wants me to get a price for her power mirror on her tahoe and it was around 25 bucks. I call and give her the price and she proceeds to tell me to do it and I remind her that she will have to pay for it when she picks it up. She proceeds to tell me that she will pay for it the following week. I said no, you need to pay for it when you pick it up today. She says ok and later when she comes to get it her credit card is rejected...big surprise. She then proceeds to tell me her sob story and that she will take the truck today and bring the money back tomorrow "she promises" lol. I told her no but I can remove the mirror and she can go on her way. She said well is there an atm around and I point to a check cashing place down the block. She then tells me she will take her truck and drive donw there and be right back. I again have to say no. You can walk down there (this was a larger woman also) or I can remove the mirror. She then proceeds to storm off to the atm and 20 minutes later she drove off. Our customers try to manipulate and trick us all the time. All this for nothing. She just pays our cost on parts, no labor and we make make copies of reciepts:rolleyes:

I work for a high speed internet company that specializes in the hospitality market.
I had a complaint come in from a guy saying that one of my support agents had threatened him. The receptionist transferred him to me. He was going all kinds of nuts about hoe my agent had threatened him, and how he was sure that my agent was in another state, and that interstate threats were a special class of felony. He wanted to get the Dpt. Of Homeland Security involved. Wasn’t even a network problem… his Ethernet driver had disappeared.
I got him calmed down a little, and informed him that I would conduct a very thorough investigation. I informed him that we do 100% call recording, and I would review the recording for this ticket in detail, and take whatever action was necessary. He changes his tune a little bit when I mentioned the call recording. I informed him that due to company policy and confidentiality agreements, I would not be able to release the recording to any person or agencies without a court order. He was a little humbled at this point. He said it wouldn’t be necessary, and that he was sure I would take whatever action was appropriate based on my review. I asked him if he would like a follow up call after I had reviewed the recording, he declined.

Turns out the “threat” was when my agent informed the guest that if he didn’t stop swearing and insulting him, he would disconnect the call. I just LOVE the hospitality industry.

My fav customer this year was the FBI. Apparently some general or something from the Military let some "sensative" data get backed up on my data backup storage device.... yeah... guys in suits with guns were at my desk and watched me delete the data and shred the tape... it was awesome :). I thought they were going to pull out a pen and flash me so I would forget that they were there. It was very intimidating... yes... I wanted to see the data but hell no, not at the risk of getting shot or worse!!
