Sportsmans would be great. I may be rolling solo. I am hoping for clear skies.
I'm not going to any Christmas party I don't have to be at this year.

Just a reminder for everyone, we'll be meeting at Delle, UT along I-80 at 6:30pm this Friday for those that want to caravan from Delle to Lucin. Should be a great time!

I was hoping to get a gpx file of coordinates for the trip before I get out there. What about fuel stops and restroom breaks, is there an itinerary available?

Open wide... here comes the spoon. Only coordinate you need is the SLC International Airport

PS For everyone coming, please bring a bundle of firewood!

trying to convince the wifee to go....someone please school me on the sun tunnels and why they're a "must see" (I'm not very familiar with them)

I don't go for the sun tunnels; I don't consider them a "must see." I think they're cool, but not worth the drive. However, what is worth the drive (to me) is getting out and camping/exploring with many old friends, meeting new friends, seeing ghost towns, staring in awe at the amount of facts Kurt has crammed in his head, and listening to Kurt and Joseph's banter at the campfire make it worth a drive twice as far.

I'm bringing my dog, my wife, and some neighborhood friends. If your wife doesn't like cold camping, it's probably not for her. However, you could throw the camper shell on your diesel and take that, it'd do just fine.

I am really thinking hard about joining. I don't really like camping in the cold but my 10 yr old wants to go. My delema is what vehicle to bring. I have an LJ Wrangler setup for anything but would require the use of a tent or I could bring my Ford Expedition which is setup for the mall parking lot with big wheels and low profile street tread but by bringing it we can sleep inside it.

Will the Expedition make it or will I tear off running boards and pretty much destroy it?

I've been in the area a lot during the winter months and I wouldn't want to bring anything that doesn't do well in snow or ice. The snow is rarely deep, most of the driving will be on mild dirt roads, but these roads can be VERY slippery especially if the group heads to lookouts in higher elevation. I wouldn't feel comfortable about bringing the Expedition only because of the wheel/tire combo.

With a good pad, mattress or barrier of some sort under you guys I don't see any reason why a tent wouldn't be just as warm as sleeping in a car (as long as the car isn't running that is ;)). I'd bring dry clothes (avoid cotton) to change into right before bed, and pile on the extra blankets--you'll be just fine. Some great advice here: http://www.rme4x4.com/showthread.php?86322-Camping-tips-The-Sleeping-bag

It looks like I'll be bringing the land cruiser this time. I didn't have time to get all the little details sorted out on the pickup in time. So close, yet so far.

That's a horrible vehicle to bring...are you sure you will still come? (kidding)

Is everything a go for Sportsman's Warehouse at 8pm? 8:30?

Well, it's got 20" chrome rims and street tires, but I'm sure it'll be fine.

Is sportsman's warehouse just off of 72nd?
