South-East Utah February RME Trip - White Wash Sand Dunes

For the month of February, we're going to play at White Wash Sand Dunes!

• Date & Time - Saturday February 16th, 2019 @ 10 AM
• The area has Sand Dunes, Sandstone Canyons and Slickrock climbs.
• Trail rating will be from Mild to Challenging for most vehicles.
• Lets plan on meeting at the main parking area at 10 AM, right before dropping into the wash - https://goo.gl/maps/zECRqoMzfcz
• Stock 4x4's will be OK, but may be limited in some areas to to ground clearance. Being able to air down and up is highly recommended.
• Built 4x4's with good tires will do better in the Sand and on the Slickrock.
• Group Size... 10+ will be fine, it's a big open play area.
• Bring Lunch, Snacks & Drinks.... there isn't much out there.
• Come dressed for Winter weather.
• I believe all vehicles will need a Orange Flag! You will have to supply your own!

Directions -

To reach White Wash Sand Dunes, drive 13 miles east of Green River on Interstate 70. Take Ranch Exit 173 to the south. This county road is known locally as the Floy Wash Road. (This exit is seven miles west of U.S. Highway 191.) From I-70, continue southwest on the Floy Wash Road for 12 miles (be sure to bear right 4.5 miles from Interstate 70, and continue straight at 7.8 miles from Interstate 70). Go east (left) at 12.3 miles southwest of I-70. You will drive by some oil production facilities. Some of these are on private property and should be avoided. The Sand Dunes are visible from this intersection. There are two very large (natural) parking areas just west of the sand dunes. Larger vehicles may wish to consider parking at the area on the top of the hill.

The area is a big OHV open travel area with a big wash, sand dunes, slickrock canyons, etc. There is dry camping out there, for those interested.

Also worth noting that there aren’t any facilities out there. This includes water and bathrooms!

If you ready have a toilet bring it with you. I’ve never seen s BLM officer in there, but they do say you should have a toilet available.

Yep, good point Derek! I have seen the BLM guy out there, but has been more concerned about registered bikes in the past.

Foot in mouth: My neighbor has a new side by side, and I invited him to take it out for this trip, so he and I, with 3 boys will be joining the group.

I'd love to come down with my SXS for this, but I don't think I'll have enough vacation quite yet. The Jeep will be semi under construction.

I was already planning on towing my Teryx4. It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission. I may head to Moab afterwards.

Well, my JK is STILL at the dealership with an unknown repair date.... so there's a good chance I'll be bringing MY SxS, the '48 Willys!

Sweet, dress warm! Bummer the dealer is taking so long, but it's always nice to be a 4x4 hoarder and have a plan B. I just dragged home another non-running Jeep today myself. Looking forward to potentially seeing the Willys in action.

This is one of our favorite places to camp! We've only been down there with the sxs. Are the wheeling trails worth bringing a full size rig?

It's more of a open play area rather than trails, like you're thinking of. There are some small 'canyons' and washes to drive up, but it's not extensive.
