Firewood?

Anyone know of the rules for harvesting pre-fallen trees or the rotting ground cover?

Im looking to make a firewood run for the winter to save on my gas price but need to know if anyone else does and what the laws are in the Davis county or Salt Lake areas are.

Im not looking to harvest big old healthy trees but prefer to take the dead and/or dying, always nicer to take the fire hazards IMO.

Planned on doing that tomorrow from the shop, lol. But was hoping someone here had done it, knew of a good area, and the rules that followed...

Negatory, all stocked up. We didn't burn anything last year and our stockpile is still sitting. We now have a backyard fire pit though, I'll likely need to do a run next spring.

Craigslist

Check craigslist's free section. Usually there are a few listings per week on firewood. Some is freshly cut others have been sitting and are seasoned.

My neighbor hit the construction dumpsters in Foxboro in NSL & filled his truck up w/ scrap pieces. They actually helped him load it We ended up having too much.

Get a permit from the F\S. They are cheap. I think each permit is good for 8 chords or so.

From the Heber ranger district today: $7.xx per chord, min of 4 chords purchased. They will quit selling sometime in Oct. (I don't remember the exact date) and the permits will expire sometime in Nov. Dead fall or standing dead in approved areas (they will give you a map).

I was up at the family farm in Heber today cutting down some dead trees to use for fire wood when I stumbled upon an interesting find. In one of the out buildings (old pig pen) there is about 10 cords of long pole pine. Apparently my great uncle cut it up to take it to his hunting cabin. He died about 20 years ago and its been sitting there since. I'm set for firewood for the foreseeable future!

You suck I spent all day cutting cherry and oak in a little old ladies orchard, lets just say the ole saw needs a new chain x2.... Stretched em both pretty good...
