flat towing my buggy

the idea was to leave the toy hauler at camp and not have to use it to pull the buggy around Moab. I have a 16ffoot flat bed trailer I guess I could pull it behind the toy hauler empty I just don't want to pull doubles with the back trailer weighing 5000 pounds or more plus I would rather stay in my trailer than half the rooms in Moab plus it will save me around $300 or more in hotels every time I go

The only reason I would flat tow a rig, is I already have everything to flat tow a vehicle. And I really dont want to buy a truck and trailer, with no room to put them. Again, I am not rich, I cant afford a big gas hog truck, and a trailer to boot. So the next best option would have been that.

except a rig to flat tow. Sorry coco, I couldn't resist. I'm just trying to motivate you to get back out on the trail with us. It's been too long.

I can almost guarantee that if the rear tires are on the ground without flaps or flares you will get a ticket.

i can guarantee i drove around moab for a year with no flaps or flairs but my rig did have insurance and a plate.. rear axle stuck out behind the bed

yes i probably just go lucky.. but personally i think if you flat towed a rig around moab with some magnetic lights from harbor freight you would be just fine..

now on the highway getting to moab idk..

I think that should say "you should get a ticket" not "will"

how many vehicles do you see driving around that would not pass inspection and rarely get ticketed, I see a lot.

I guess if flat towing is going to save a ton of money you can afford a ticket every few years, I mean even if you get to moab a lot in one year, that probably won't be more than 4 times, so lets say you flat tow it and only get a ticket 25% of the time, that is less than 1 ticket a year.

I also like to believe that if you made some kind of effort to cover your tires so you were not throwing rocks while towing they would probably be more inclined to not pull you over, as long as you were not doing anything else stupid, speeding, swerving, flipping off the cop, etc... So maybe some kind of fender flare you could leave in the flat-tow-rig might help. (also lights and all that too)
