I remember back in my climbing years doing a 200 foot free climb on a fairly easy route. As I recalled it took me around 30 minutes :) When I finished I sat at the top and thought "Ok I free climbed. now I never have to do it again". That guy definately has some big brass ones to do that every climb. Now I stick to mountaineering.

I second the comment that Dan has been doing this for along time in yosemite...and it is very apparent he has done the climb before....

I admit I would be freaked to do that jump if all tied in and with a stack of pro in the crack right below me, to me the height no matter is a factor after a few hundred feet. A fall from 200 feet is going to kill you (usually) the same as a fall from 1500'. in my experience once you get past a certain point you cannot comprehend the height perception...it just seems really high!

I never had the guts to do the free climbing thing....give me rope, pro, and a harness anyday.
