OH! Here you go: If they use the Willy's name it should include:

Flat fenders, rounded fronts, just like the CJ2 and 3.
"Willys" stamped into the tailgate.
"Willys" on seats, dash, etc.
Spare tire mounted on the pasenger side rear quarter panel. Oh yeah!
Full size STEEL top.

Oh yeAh!!!

EZ

That would be cool... I have nothing against then using the name Willy's, just the fact that is has zero similarities with the Willy's besides the round headlights... ;)

NOTE TO EVERYONE... The LandCruiser is the longest running production vehicle in history... thats right over 40 years and they still make a removable top solid axle cruiser... :D

Oh yeah, well I've seen stock YJ's on it too.....what's your point, Mr. "Jeeps are sh#t?" :)...

Well spotted leapord... My point is... that you can't judge wether or not a vehicle is "garbage" by it making it up Moab Rim ;)

You know, a wise man once told me (Shawn)... if we didn't have Jeeps and Broncos and Sami's and Yotas... this sport would be nothing... think about it. I am 100% believer.

Peace out jeepers.... :p

Wow Moab Rim? Ollie and I are sitting here crapping our pants.... we need pics.. that trail is insane....did you air down? What setting were your shocks on? What weight motor oil?

Note:
I've have seen stock 4runner's do that trail....

Well, Kurt...

I'm talking about doing it "without" getting body damage!

You have to give me some credit... I do have an ARB, but no air compressor... So actually I'm completely open. Didn't smash in my passenger rear quarter panel on the rock that you can slide into very easily.

Your right... That trail is insane for my setup! For you it's probably cake! :p

Moab Rim - Devil's Crack

And Don't give me crap about Toyota's Ruling the Earth.... Check out this IFS piece of crap.

Toyota Boy Trying to go up the crack... Too bad it's IFS!

Even the owner of Safari Gard had to turn around and go back down... Breaking his Axleshaft and U-joint on the passenger side.

Oops!

They didn't get pics of me going up the Z Turn because I made sure Toyota Boy got turned around okay at the Devil's Crack and everyone went up ahead of me... But I did do it.

The reason I'm going off about this is... I'm sick of everyone telling me Jeeps are garbage and jeep is a crappy company... Sure they have their down side. But I thought the Rubicon was a great idea... I mean, an already set up vehicle.. Yeah the Dana 44's front and rear aren't as stout as the one's made in Scouts, etc etc... But hey, they've got the right idea right?

At least I see Jeep trying to make cooler rigs and getting them out there for everyone...

Do you see any other companies out there doing that? Maybe Nissan with the XTerra... But that's it. I don't see Toyota making any "trail ready" vehicles... YOu can't drive a brand new Tacoma or 4Runner out to Moab and do everything. I read an article about the Rubicon, they took it out to "the Rubicon" and tested it out. It did it just fine except for minor body damage to the rear bumper... needs a lift, that's it.

That's my $.02

yeah right.... do you believe everything your given to read?

i'd take a yota with a FACTORY elec locker in it any day! over a rubicrap! proly get myself a sweet crew cab pickup! with a locker....and a Jeeps are Sh!t sticker!

and i'd like to see you take a stock wrangler, rubicon, XJ, WJ, ZJ and, i quote "out to Moab and do everything." - tweakyjeep

i hate it when people make retarded generalizations!

and that's my $.02! :D

I think they should build a "real" Willys. No carpet, radio, steel wheels (no hubcaps) etc.... Build a "very" basic and then add options if you want them.

That is the Willys I remember.

You know when i was in europe wandering around germany icame across puegot dealership(i know whoopy huh) and not only did it sell rallycross and compact cars but a small line of willy's jeep's , But they wern't made by jeep or willy's they were made by some company wich i could not pronounce but they were origanal (i.e. steel wheels ,no carpet,8 ply tires,etc...)and to my understanding there still made that way to yhis day.

oh, and my the way...

being a huge fan in WILLYS Jeeps, i think it's a tragedy to stick it's name on some piece of sh!t wrangler....you've never seen the wrangler oversees carrying troops around...it has no right to wear that name, but oh well....nothing i can do about it

Every heard of an FJ80 Landcruiser?

Factory electric lockers F&R...Pritchett, Rubicon, Moab Rim, no sweat...

Plus.... Toyota makes more "trail-ready" vehicles than ANY other company... no other company still sells cable locked, intercooled TD, solid front and rear HZJ70's, and the family rig, the HZJ105...

2004 HZJ75... as it comes from Toyota, FF rear, cable lockers, snorkel.

what i think is funny is most people don't know whats overseas like toyota, suzuki, jeep, and nissan. Over there like in australia and iceland most come equipped with duel elec/full time lockers and diesel motors and most are odd like this one sami i can't remember the name of it but it was your basic sami
but in an extended wheelbase truck model(i think 101 in. wheelbase) w\1.6 litre cummins turbo diesel, dual elec. lockers,4wheel disc, snorkal and a tow package.

See something like the toyota hilux would be cool to.

Yeah, All those overseas vehicles are rad... My bro wants to get his hands on a Unimog (even though that's not really overseas)...

Well... SAMI, Kurt

I respect your opinions... That's cool.

Kurt,

I haven't heard of those vehicles... I thought we were talking about in the U.S. (If those can be ordered in the U.S. well my bad.)

I totally dig the Tacoma's I'd get one for a daily driver, but I hate the IFS, even though I know they were probably designed for Prerunning, not rock crawling. I respect Toyota as a company as well...

The thing I was trying to get at in my last post was... Why does everyone have to be so negative about everything, Yeah Jeep has their downsides, but they are trying new things... That's what I really liked about Jeep.

Now just for your info... I almost bought a Bronco before I bought my jeep... But the Jeep had a better deal and less miles. And it sure has turned out to be very capable for me. And it's what I like... Right now... I would not trade it for anything! :)

You bunch of elitist pricks.

But really... Who cares what a stock rig is capable of? If it doesn't do what you like, build it till it does. Or just get something else...

This thread was about the Jeep Willys. We all know it's not any more capable than any other stock TJ (except maybe the glossy olive drab paint might make it capable of winning a my rig vs. your rig debate) :ugh:

So back to the subject... DIAMLER WILLYS! what a joke.

Kurt, did you ever figure out how to import one of those bad boys over here? Why not go to Canada and drive it down, or up from Mexico? Not that it is legal, but I wonder if you could swap a Vin tag off some other Toyota so you could register it without getting bent over on the tax.

I just get sick of the elitist bullshizm that comes from brand loyalty....my brand is better than your brand....well guess what?!? 99% of competetion buggys are running american drivetrain and running gear so everyone STFU about how honkey dorey your brand is...

as for all those oddball toyotas....give me a break...until you can get them in the US without all the legal wrangling all your factory lockers and turbo diesel engines don't mean crap...you still only have the tacoma with a rear locker...

as for zuk guys, we haven't a leg to stand on because our vehicles are extinct in this country so get it while the gettin' is good!!

to the jeep lovers, Step down from the high horse...jeeps aint all that and a bucket of chicken...did I mention I own 2.....

every brand sucks and shines in its own respective ways, there is no perfect 4x4 so everyone chill the funk out!!

Well, there are plenty of them stateside... You can "legally" import them... the government just charges you an arm and a leg...$$$

And for those wondering why you can't buy those from Toyota in the US... The Big 3... they have plenty of politicians and lobbiests in DC. Tariffs and duties are outrageous...
