I just get sick of the elitist bullshizm that comes from brand loyalty....my brand is better than your brand....well guess what?!? 99% of competetion buggys are running american drivetrain and running gear so everyone STFU about how honkey dorey your brand is......

99%... gonna have to dispute that one... I can think of at least 30 rigs running non-US axles....

And ever think of the fact that better axles exist outside the US, but once again.. the BIG 3 keeps them out?

TOYOTA still RULES!

BTW A good chunk of the parts on Samurais are manufatured by a subsidary of Toyota.... Aisin Seiki Corporation aka ASCO aka AISIN

...as for all those oddball toyotas....give me a break...until you can get them in the US without all the legal wrangling all your factory lockers and turbo diesel engines don't mean crap...you still only have the tacoma with a rear locker...

No legal wrangling about buying an FZJ80, OEM lockers, etc...

And they others are only difficlut to get in because of the BIG 3... why do you think we lost the D90?

no US meaning mog? those things are near worthless, I have personally witnessed 3 break in ONE competetion....overrated....what else is there?

I know aisin builds all that stuff...and guess what, stock zuk axles are crap and everyone knows it!!

darn that BIG 3....the d-90 hit the skids cuz it was overpriced and underrated!! 50k for that??

and what does a FZJ80 cost us....I bet you can't get one for under 45K$ to your door MSRP.....

gotta tell ya...that Rubicon is starting to look better and better every day out of the box...

Of all the 4x4's readily available for purchase inside the US the Rubicon is clearly the most capable off the shelf rig. I don't think anyone would argue with that, if you do then you are burying your biased head in the sand. I can't think of anything better, even that Lexus pile that "won" the 4wor 4x4 of the year. By their own admission the Rubicon was better offroad; the Lexus thingy won due to other factors like having the fastest power windows, a built in dual-thrmometer/barometric pressure/auto compass/GPS/voice activated idiot alarm ("excuse me, but your tire prssure is 3 lbs. low".)

When you open the field to all the funky outside the US wierd stuff then it changes the equation considerably. Most of us don't realize that there are so many medium duty (big) trucks in other lands.......mogs, pinzers (whatever the crap they are called), even Land Rover makes something that looks like the Mog. Personally I'd really like to see a comeback of half tracks. :)

EZ

hahaha "Beep! You are now pitching at 30 degrees. Beep! You are about to tip over. Beep! You are upside down. Beep! Your engine compartment is on fire. Beep! Deploying fire suppression system. Beep! I smell charred flesh! Beep! Idiot warning system preparing to self eject. Beeeeeeeeeeepppp!

To rate too low; underestimate.

So your now saying the D90 was underestimated? And that is why legistlation introduced by the Big 3 to enforce airbag compliance, booted them out of the US?

Dude, nobody lobbied harder against air bag laws (they even fought safty glass, seat belts, and many other safty standards, also manditory fuel economy standards) than the big three. You can hardly blame them for wanting imported cars to have to instal them to. Asking for foriegn companies to abide by the same rules the American companies have to is OK in my book. That air bag rules drove the Defender out is an argument that I do not buy. The British know how to employ them as their other offerings prove. The price of the Defender left plenty of profit margin even with the added expense of SRS. I just don't think that enough people wanted that type of a vehichle.

i totally agree.....

i just highly disagreed with tweekey's "take it to Moab and conquer everything"

but, yeah...i agree best outta the box

i am loyal to no one company! i don't have nearly enough experience with enough vehicles to say who's better or not.....
