I run Curries which are Foote blanks, which is Superiors parent company....
Anyway, I like them and if I break them more than once they will give me 40 splines and a spool!! I have not boken on yet. No evidence of twist yet. Some companies only warranty a shaft if it breaks inside the flange. Currie warranties breaks outside the flange too.

Well, after looking at the options, I think that I will be ordering some cro-mo 31 spliners for now. It's kinda hard to swallow the cost of a new dropout and locker when I have brand new ones as it is.

If I break a cro-mo 31, then I will step it up. Thanks for the input guys.

I think you'll be happy with that set up for a while. I broke 1 stock 31 spline on my 9" and twisted 2 more within a year. I drove out on the busted one from the wammy and tore up the carrier so I went to a spool with 31 spline currie shafts. That was 3 years ago and have not broken since. I should have probably gone with the 35 spline spool and shafts in hindsight, but if your locker is still good your probably right to stick with 31's (then you have a spare too). I love my 9" and spool, SIMPLE and easy to work on.

UPDATE:

I finally got around to pulling my rear end apart, and what I found was CARNAGE!!! :ugh:

The carrier bearing exploded when the axle broke, therefore the R&P fell out of alignment and everything is toast. :(

The R&P are pretty scarred up. Looks like I'll be going 35 spline (when I find the money tree)

Do you guys think that the locker would be hurt, or maybe I can salvage it?

You might have to do some deburring on the locker, I would bet that it is still usable. I wasn't gonna tell everyone how bad you abuse your junk... but you are a mad man! j/k

Do you think a bent housing may have caused the initial problem? You drive that thing like you are going to church!

I don't think that the housing is bent... the rear tire got into a crack, and bound up on both sides. I wasn't even on the throttle when it snapped, just had both t-cases in low and idling.

I forgot all about the drop out difference whe we were talking the other day. When I granaded my front detroit I ripped my old 9 apart to use the detroit but the carrier bearings on the new 9 were much larger then my old 9
