I'm considering buying a 1970 F700 ford schoolbus that has a 361 industrial gas V8 and a clark 4 speed tranny. The rig has been chopped and converted into a car hauler etc.

Anyways, I'm curious if anyone knows anythign about this drivetrain, it's reliability, it's pulling ability, how easy it would be to find parts etc.

Thanks

I would bet you would be able to easily find most parts for that beast quite easily. Maybe even an overdrive, from Gear Vendor.

Pretty much indestrucable, but you won't get there very fast. Torque from hell, low gears and a low rpm motor. But it will pull your jeep and 50 screaming school girls, straight up a wall.
I have seen the pics of the rig, it is very cool, I have thought about doing something similar for many years.

Correct--looking at Eskimo's rig. I think it would make a good deal not so good having to drive it at 55 mph accross the country at 7mpg.

It's soo cool though. :(

A chopped up bus hauling a chopped up SUV. It's only fitting.

Maybe you should consider a used Semi, like a freightliner Condo. you could get 9-11 mpg out of one of these, and it alreay has sleeping quarters in it. They can be had for around 12-15k used.
