Can anyone direct me on my options to upgrade a 2003 Ford F-350 Superduty rear axle which I have identified as a Ford 10.5"? I am interested in installing 5.13 or 5.38 gears and a spool or welded differential. I cannot seem to find many options avaliable at Randy's R&P or specific mnufactuers sites (i.e. Yukon, Super, etc...).
Currently installed (stock) are 3.73 limited slip.

Any help/options would be appreciated.

Oh yeah, this is planned to go under a 2006 Unlimited as a winter project/upgrade.

You can use 10.25 gears as well. Most lockers are available, ARB, Detroit, lunchbox, etc.
I have an ARB I'll sell you for $100, but it needs about $200-$300 in parts to fix it:p

Here's a decent article on them http://www.fourwheeler.com/techarticles/drivetrain/129_0506_ford_1025_1050_inch_axle_tips/index.html

Just so you don't get too invested into this axle, you do realize it's not a standard 8-lug bolt pattern from the factory, right? It should be 8x170mm.

good information

Thanks Milner. I was unaware that the 10.25 gears would fit it as well. I plan to spool this rear and regear. Again thanks for the link and info.
Supergper, I do know that the lug pattern is the newer Ford style. I have been keeping an eye out for a good set of 17” or 20” bead locks. I have a couple of options from the way I see it though: I can just buy new 8x170mm wheels, I can convert my axles/hubs or I can use a wheel adapter. Although I am open to these I will most likely just save my money and go with choice #1: buying new wheels with the 8x170mm lug pattern.

Thanks for the information guys!
