First, let me say thanks to Greg & Shane for opening up this forum for USA-All. There is a lot going on right now in the world of access and we need more people to be involved on every level........working with your local managers, counties and elected representatives in the state and DC.
I would like to see this forum used constructively to help people get involved and understand what is going on. Now more than ever, it seems that the multiple use decisions are being taken away from our local managers with directives that are coming down from Wahsington. The work to keep access open is now more political than it has ever been. This is not to say that boots on the ground will not make a difference, because it will. It is just as vitally important to be working on the political side of land use.
Over the last couple of years, USA-All has become very involved with working with local comissioners, state representatives and our Washington delegation. They have said repeatedly how little they see users getting actively involved to the level that the enviromentalists do. This was the basis for us to put together the land use seminar we did a in February. We have scheduled an upcoming seminar in Moab and St. George for the near future and I will post up details of those events within the next week.
I would also like to invite people to get involved in USA-All. We hold our board meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of each month in Orem. We have had a lot of changes in the make up of our board of directors over the last 2 years and I am still looking for some more ambitious people with a passion for access to be part of our board.
Feel free to email or PM me with any questions.
