fox air shocks and re s-flex joints versus heims?

first of all i want to talk about 14" fox air shocks...
i have been researching them on pbb in the thread about them and bill's tech write up. and seriously, i am considering them.
1st of all they are 225 bucks a piece, that is it!!!! they do not require coils (hence the name) but they do require to be charged with nitrogen and filled with shock oil. they are so cool, they weigh like 6 pounds each and they mount as simple as coilovers... two bolts! they do require a lot of tuning as do coilovers which would be the other alternative, but they are waaaaay cheaper than coilovers. they are for light rigs though, they say no heavier than 1000 lbs per corner, but i don't think the whole rear of my xj will weigh much over that. stock 2dr xj = about 3000 lbs and that is a 4.0l not a 2.5.
the weird thing is that they were not designed to be ran the way i want to do it and the way it has been done by other rock crawlers. they are supposed to be used as a shock, not a whole suspension system, but everyone says they work great. i am going to stop blabbing about them and let you guys give some opinion now.

and there are some links in the thread about team purple running them and a discussion on pbb

topic 2
okay so i was thinking about joints for four links now and i wanted some info/opinion on which is better...
okay, poly bushings on one end of all the links, what to put on the other?

i ran up the prices at a couple places and it seems that re superflex joints and aurora heims (3/4"-16 thread with 5/8" bore)are about the same price... weird huh?
anyway, for the heims that i priced, they were like only 13 degrees of twist and the re superflex large joints are 22 degrees.

what do you guys think about either?
also, how do you make the mounts for re joints so that they can twist that much, they don't use misalignment washers right?

1000/lbs per corner... unsprung weight. So, not including your axles, wheels & tires. ;)

I like the idea, it seems to be a very affordable alternative to coilovers.

As for RE Joints, it's personal prefrence. You'd need 2 RE's to get the same amount of twist out of one Rod End w/ mis-alignment spacers. My prefrence, one Rod End and one YJ Spring bushing on each link.

yeah i know, unsprung my jeep will weigh like nothing! it's a 4 cylinder haha.

then why do they say they have 22.5 degrees of twist? do they have that but can't use it because of no misalignment bushings? i like the idea of re joints because they don't require thread to the links or anything, and they are bigger.

I will be using a bushing on the other end that I got from RockLogic

I got a deal on them. (the hiems)

the threaded inserts, misalignment/reducers and jam nuts I got from RockLogic.

The uppers are 1.5x.250 DOM

The lowers are 2x.250 DOM

Actually, the smaller teflon lined ones are $24. :)

BTW, you can use the threaded weld in inserts as shown in the pic or your tubing can be directly threaded. It a decision of personal preferrences and/or type of application.

I knew those parts looked really familiar, but you didnt buy them from me..
Hmmmm

I personally think johhny's are the best, rubicon's are hard to adjust after a year and john's are built with quality in cali...
I get them cheaper than a heim and they last way longer and are quiet.
