so i bought a 75 cj5 and have noticed a few things that need attention. on the drivers side by the steering box my frame is cracked. i have heard that this area is a weak point and some people put braces on the steering box. what can i do to fix the cracks? cut out and weld on new plates? weld plates over? what are your ideas?

here is a pic from the outside

the crack extends around the bottom

would you take it to someone to weld being your frame? i do not have a welder but seeing the issues that are coming would really like to get one.

would i need to weld the plates on? i have heard that if i went with a 1/4" plate that it could be bolted on instead of welded, what do you think?
