Here's your chance to use your winch! (I wish mine were installed). The truck is in a safe spot, so there's no rush. i was thinking sometime later tonight would work.
Here's the story:
my friend's son was driving his 2000 f150, and he decided to take the back roads home (like any responsible 4x4 owner would do). He slid off the road and ended up breaking the spindle/lower BJ. Here's the current state:
Here's what we need to do:
- get the vehicle out of there without doing more damage to the front end.
- This involves moving it about 40 yards through a dirt 4x4 road with a few little whoops (too much for a tow truck to handle)
- taking it to a nearby mechanic
We're thinking of renting a tow dolly to get under the front wheel so we can drag it out of there without damaging the front end. There's a slight decline, but it's not in a crazy dangerous spot. I haven't seen it, but I'm sure it'll be a simple extraction. We'll probably need someone with a winch or a strap on the uphill side as he tows it downhill. The truck runs and the brakes work, so someone can get in the truck and help slow it down if needed.
