 Wow! I guess you must be the exception.

Teutonictxn, though not impossible to find one for cheap, it's just very difficult and obviously time consuming. Although a great deal, mbryson's was a dually with a missing hub. These versions are often cheaper dew to lower demand but money saved is often spent on parts to convert it to the more desirable and more expensive SRW version.

Ding, ding, ding..... If I ever have to find one again, I'll just pay the money. If I payed myself anything, I'd have been money ahead. I did spend a little cheese just to get it to 'roller' status as a dually (new spindle, bearings. Harkinoff knew someone with a set of dually hubs and I had to cough up some barley pop for that :D--didn't mind a bit, thanks again Randy!!!). Then I wanted SRW hubs and then 35 spline outers and slugs..... I didn't get a bad deal, but it wasn't cheap either.

Well all in all I will continue to look for a front Dana 60 axle; cheap or not... As for the rear I have chopped all the brackets of, grinded it down and am going to work on painting it today. I will probably bust open the carrier tomorrow, clean that up and list it on KSL along with the shafts... I figure it is going to cost me about $700 in parts to make it into the axle I want. Along with my free labor and the learning experience of it all to pay myself back it will be a well spend $700 in the end.

Keep in mind the newer Dodge's are driver side drop and some are CAD. And what some people think to be D60's in their Dodge's are actually Chrysler axles with less options for gears and lockers. I think in '99 it would be a D60 though, and I don't know for sure about the CAD on that year.

What are you talking about? Are you trying to say "some of the newer Dodges have AAM axles instead of Dana's?"

Chrysler doesn't make frontends.

I found a 80s one ton chev.......pulled the axles.......swapped in 3/4 ton axles.....and sold the truck off again. If you have 3/4 ton axles still, I would bet this will be your cheapest route.

As for your rear 60..........why?? You are spending 700 on a pain in the butt. You can use a 14 bolt......buy a DETROIT for it and still only be in it no more than 600 and I would bet a stock 14 bolt is as strong or stronger than a semi float 60 with 35 splines. Plus you would have a locker instead of a spool. But hey......to each his own

I like this idea a lot if you have the room and time.

Personally, I prefer spools.

Ive had both. I dont have anything against spools except for wearing out tires on the road. Its just the fact that you can get a new detroit for a 14 bolt for just over 300. I would just weld the spiders before I spent money on a spool again though. :D
