i need somebody that can look at my front end. while i'm on the ground, the front end doesnt seem like it's getting any power. when i have it on blocks, the front end seems like its getting power though. i dont know what's wrong with it. and it's pissing me off. could i get somone out there to take a look at it? i would really appreciate it.

Sounds more like you have a worn out viscous coupler or something. Splines usually don't get worn out and you'd probably hear it. Why don't you give us a little more info like what it doesn in four that makes you think you don't have power and what you're doing when it's on blocks.

its my 92 mazda b2600i
when its on blocks, i have just been running the tires in all of the gears and they seem to be spinning, the passenger side front tire, spins slower than the driverside and doesnt spin with as much power. you cna stop the passenger side tire just by putting your hand on it. the drivers side takes more effort and when it stops it grinds.
when it's on the ground, i don't get any pull power, it acts like a 2wd insead of a 4wd. the back spins out and the front acts like its not even there.
it's not moving because my friend hits all of these trails in 4wd and i cant even do any of them, i just spin out and it kind of smells like the diff. is burning. i know that if you came digging with me and you drove it you would understand better.;

Yup, deffinitely not a coupler. Sounds like something in the diff. Maybe a cv joint or a shaft. Sorry, I'm a ways away or I'd look at it for ya.

just go WEST on 800 N. and go under I-15. then next road should be Industrial Park Rd., turn right. Six States is the first building on your left.

pull the rear drive line and drive it around in FWD. It may just be your no-flex IFS.

Ben there, done that:mad:

The smell is associated with the tcase and happens on many 4wd's when you spin allot of tires.

When I woked at Qlube I would always have guys come in after they got stuck. They though the smell was them burning something. Never found a problem, I don't know what the actual cause of the smell is????

I forgot does the mazda front have a diff cover or do you drop the third member, I used to have a 93 ranger and they should be the same but I can't remember what type it was. If you can remove the diff cover then do so and look inside see if all the spider gears are intact. I had a problem like that and I ignored it for a while then boom I blew a front diff because a piece of spider gear got caught up in there and tore through alot of teeth and created havoc in the diff. I gave tim some help awhile ago and might be able to help you a bit if only for another oppinion. I don't have alot of experience in diff repair but I might be able to help you find out whats wrong.
