This is great and I just had to tell someone....
My dog was barking as I was walking out the door to get Austin from the sitters. I get outside to find a school bus in my driveway!
For those unaware, I live in a culdesac that is slanted and apparently the slant aims right for my driveway. School bus pulls in to drop kids off and can't stop! Slides right down the slant and into my driveway.
Anyway, so there is a neighbor (the kids dad?) chopping snow and removing it from behind the tire so the bus can back up rather than driving right over my lawn. Thank you!
I figure this is a cool opportunity to use my Jeep! The guy laughs at me and says there is NO WAY my Jeep could help...School bus is MUCH bigger and A LOT heavier. I laugh back and say that my Jeep has pulled tougher.... He then tells me that the district mechanics are on their way to put chains on it.
So I practically RUN in the house to get the keys (if I'm gonna get the opportunity to do this, time is of the essence). I come out and start backing out of the drive, along side the bus and start sliding. Ok, no problem, 4 lo back right up the hill. Engage lockers behind the bus and the mechanics pull up as I'm pulling the cable out. They laugh at me too and say I'm waisting my time, that if anything is going to move it, these chains will.
So I leave my cable attached to their tow point and let them try it. Because at this point they won't stop working for me to try it.
Ok, chained and they tell the driver to back up. She still can't! So I start pulling the slack as they tell me they will get a tractor in and not to worry about it. I kept winding up the winch as it pulls my Jeep forward and they start REALLY laughing at me. So I jump in and hit the brakes and keep pulling....Pulling the bus right up the hill. Then I put it in nuetral and let her pull me down so that I can help keep her turning.
Now they have something to talk about when they get back to the shop.... The dad now has something to brag to others. The wife said now she knows why I have such a big truck and winch - to pull out stuck school buses.
