Frontier lift options

ok, focused now on either a Nissan Frontier Crew Cab Nismo or H3.

Nismo edition has rear e-locker and front limited slip (think newer may be lockers on both). Big issue that I see is same as any truck- clearance and break-over angle with the longer wheel base.

Most of what I finding for lifts are 2", which is better than nothing but not great.

Anyone know of either different lift options or good shop/source for Nissan mods?

I'm sure Old Man Emu makes a lift for them, you might want to call Cruiser Outfitters about options for a Nissan. Though they're not their specialty, Kurt & the guys know the product line well enough that they could put together some good suspension systems.

I would think there aren't many options over 2-2.5" due to the IFS. Higher than that and you have to figure out how to reduce CV angles, which makes for a much more complicated suspension.

Thanks for that link. I had looked up OME and they are that 2-2.5" range, which may just have to do if I go that route.

I have an 05 NISMO that I bought new and it has been a great truck, it currently has about 120k and has been pretty much trouble free. I used the Bilstein height adjustable shocks in the front and a 1" spacer on the rear and it fits 285/75/16 fine and it made a bigger difference than I thought in off road capability, but the ride isn't all that great. A buddy of mine has a frontier and he really likes it. One thing I've noticed is his frame rails sit below the body so he drags belly much easier than my Tacoma.

I remember the first time I saw 2-3" lifts for sale I laughed and wondered why even bother. Now that I'm used to mini trucks trucks not full size I realize that's a normal lift height.

About what MPG are you getting with the 285s?

Frontier is now off the list. Tried the back seat and love my kids too much to make them sit back there!

Xterra and H3 appear to be the finalists....

If you go H3, go '07 and up. The 3.5l in the '05-'06 are noticeably slower than the 3.7l successor. If you can, I would even go for the 5.3l "alpha" model. Adventure Packages come with 4.56 axle gears, a 4:1 t-case and a rear electric axle locker. (Front and rear if '09/'10)

Nissan is pulling the Xterra, that's gonna spike the price of the used market...

Would for sure go only with Adventure package. Alpha is way out of my budget.

Thanks for the comments on 07 vs older.
