I bought this x-cab from Idaho and had it shipped to me in Utah. idaho doesn't use salt on their roads, so it's 100% rust-free. Just about everything except for the motor has been replaced. I've only got 4000 miles on it since the build (tires, gears, t-cases, etc). Most of the parts on this rig have a lifetime warranty. I built this rig right and didn't cut any corners.

I built this to be a great daily driver that could tackle the rubicon and moab's toughest trails without me having to worry about it breaking. There has never been an obstacle it hasn't climbed yet.

Vehicle
- 1994 pickup - extended cab (seats and seatbelts for 4)
- clean title
- zero leaks
- zero accidents
- 190k miles, 18-20 mpg, 75 MPH on the freeway (I can hit 80, but I don't usually drive it that fast)
- 5-speed W56
- 22re in fantastic shape, passes emissions here in UT. still has all the smog equipment.
- new clutch
- clean title, no rust, no accidents
- power steering
- EFI
- Cruise Control
- tint on rear windows

Front Axle
- TG rock assault front housing (IFS width) with FROR Tundra brake conversion/ifs hub conversion so it's taco width now
- new tundra rotors
- complete front axle rebuild last week - new seals, HD wipers (that replace the felts), TG improved inner axle seal (the new one)
- thick knuckle rock rings
- TG trunion bearing eliminator kit (15 miles on it)
- Dirty 30 cro-mo 30 spline inner axles
- TG six-shooter knuckles w/ARP studs
- Longfield IFS hub gears - 30 spline
- ARP hub studs
- BRAND NEW front High pinion e-locker third purchased from Toyota. Professionally set up with Nitro 5.29s.

Rear Axle
- TRD tacoma rear axle
- Nitro 5.29s professionally installed with new bearings (didn't need it, but I figured I might as well while I was in there).
- rear elocker (from tacoma)

Suspension:
SAS
- RUF springs mixed with TG 3" front springs
- bilstein front shocks
- rear 58" chevies
- new monroe extended travel rear shocks (ride better than bilsteins)

Tires/wheels
- new 17" FJ cruiser steelies
- 35x12.50x17 km2's - less than 3k miles on them, with lifetime warranty from discount tire. Rear tires are worn a little funny from when my front alignment was off. Should even out in 1000 miles or so. Still drives great.

Drivetrain
- 22RE stock w/190k miles. Zero issues, runs like a top. Cleanest 22re I've seen.
- stock w56 in great shape. Feels tight, no issues
- new autozone clutch, pilot bearing. Lifetime warranty.
- dual ultimate cases - 2.28 in front case, 23 spline marlin 4.7's in the rear case, TG dual adapter = 220:1 crawl ratio.
- TG long-spline front DS
- rear DS double thick, custom made, w/Toyota CV
- TG dual-case skidplate
- twin stick

Other:
- polk audio front speakers
- kenwood usb/aux/cd deck
- camper shell w/sleeping/storage platform in the back
- TG sliders
- 4-runner front seat conversion (got rid of the bench seat)
- factory bed liner

the bad:
- very minor rock rash on the rear pass bed corner (hell's gate, friend driving)
- lockers have not been wired to their switch yet (but the wiring is all there, just need to connect the switches).
- clear coat is fading on the hood

price drop to
$12,500 cash or partial/trade for a low mileage (under 120k miles) stock tacoma (x-cab or double-cab), 4runner, 100 series, and possibly even the right tundra.

For what it's worth, I'm not leaving the sport. I could never get out of wheeling, it's one of the most rewarding things I've ever done in my life. I'm just transitioning to more of an expo-style rig (yes Kurt, that is a word :D). My wife and I are starting to prefer the long scenic dirt roads in the middle of nowhere over the rock crawling, so I'd rather sell/trade this for a rig that's more suited for that style of travel (although I have no complaints about this rig of expo-style stuff).

Plus, I inherited my wife's grandfather's old military vehicle (AMC Mighty Mite) that is just waiting to be turned into a mellow crawler. (33-35's, toy axles, small engine, weekend warrior that can be trailered to the trail).

Wasn't this originally intended as your expo-style rig? Either way, it is a nice rig for sure!
Have you ever bankrupt a casino?

just curious....how is a less built rig more suited for dirt roads/scenic trails than this? Are you just wanting more cushy options in a rig? I think that this truck is darn near perfect! Takes the scenic stuff great and climbs out of any hairy situations, should they occur! is it a rough ride on the faster dirt roads or something? Steve....I'm just trying to talk you into keeping this one!

To anyone looking to buy - this is a SWEET rig! well worth the asking price, IMO

they're 35x12.50x17s. I could be talked into selling/trading them, but not for 33's. They'd have to be 35's or maybe 37's, and I'm very picky about my tires.

A less built rig wouldn't necessarily be better suited for car camping, my truck is just overkill for that sort of thing. It's more than I need, so I was thinking about simplifying. It's actually really smooth on the rough roads. That's why I say I don't need to sell this, it'll keep working for my DD/camping duties. I would love to see it get wheeled a bit more since it can handle the crazy stuff... If it hasn't sold by the summer, I'll be taking it to the rubicon, that's what I built it for.

Sixstringsteve, I am really bummed that you are trying to sell this rig. I think I speak for everyone here that if there was an award for the most built, best built, true dual purpose on road and off road rigs, you would have earned first place. Your threads are the first ones I look to see if there are any updates. Good luck with the sale.

this price surprises me.

It is only like 10 cents per page on the build thread:D, most rigs don't come with a scrapbook like this one does.

well built rig. Steve doesn't cut corners.

don't buy it so steve won't have lifelong regrets.

I'd also be willing to trade for a 100 series landcruiser.

For what it's worth, with just the front axle and the cost of the truck, I"m into it $10.5k, not to mention suspension, rear diff, gears, tires, t-cases, sliders, etc

It's getting next to impossible to find a 3rd gen pickup with the 22RE.
