Fuel cells

yeah, but my rig gets like 1,000 miles a month on it. so i have to build it with long-term driveability in mind. so my approach is different than that of a dedicated trail rig. you can get away with stuff on a trail rig that only sees 100 miles a month or less, that you could never get away with on a daily driver (mounting the cell inside the cab behind the back seat for example)

and i know all about low tank hanging, on bronco IIs it hangs like 11" below the frame, that is half of what prompted me to build another one that was level with the bottom of the frame, they came with a mickeymouse skid plate but bronco IIs hang up a lot on those stupid fuel tanks.

i did however sacrifice 5 gallons of capacity by doing this, and with my 14mpg it gives me a range of 250 miles on flat ground (with fuel sloping away it is much less) i carry spare fuel when i need it

? So the this needs to be beefed up or would better support do the trick ???

I'd say beefed up---mine was supported good with a custom bracket & all....it seemed that the fuel sloshing around inside the tank caused the walls to flex in & out causing the welds to crack

The sloshing is my biggest worry , summit sales the foam, i'am looking at the rci 2161a pretty hard because it would fit better in the toyota

The Jazz part# I posted is the same dimensions as the RCI2161a, and you won't be worried about cracking your cell.

Update on my 2161....

Well another crack!!! After welding baffles in it & foam it cracked again!
I am welding all the seams up this time & pouring in the filler rod over the top of all the factory welds....I've come to the conclusion that RCI just fused all the seams together to make it look pretty.... I'm going over all the seams & pouring in the filler rod no matter how ugly it looks---I am tired of pulling it in & out & welding 6" at a time

They make several brands of fuel cells and we stock several diff kinds. U have Rai which has aircraft type filler that helps prevent fuel spillage when turned upside down with a internal flapper. Also fuel safe which we use in our circle track cars we build jaz, atl,
