What have you got and how do you like it?

I'd like to find a mastercard/visa/amex that will enable me to buy fuel as the reward. Does something like that exist? It appears that Chevron/Texaco offers a card and I'm working on getting the details (as does Conoco/Phillips), but I wondered if other folks had a card that did that and what you thought of it.

The way I see it, I don't use the airlines much so I don't really want an airline card. I do buy fuel to play and if I got a fuel rewards card, I'd be pretty happy with that. (I can redeem points for cash cards that I can buy fuel with but I always end up leaving money on the cards because I don't know the balances outstanding)

It's not fuel, but my bro has a Cabela's card tht gets him free outdoors gear. He just got a new rifle with his points. I've been thinking of changing over to it, because like you, I don't fly much. I can always use camping gear.

I know not of any card that does what you're seeking. I do however have some of the oil company cards that are good for $0.10 or more off per gallon. You just have to shop at "participating dealers".

I know that Discover card has a program where you get extra points for buying fuel and at the end of the year you get cash back... not sure of the details...

I use a maverik gas card which use to be great cause if you used over 750 gallons in a quarter you got $15 gift card back... not to mention the savings at the pump (2-4 cents depending on the grade bought) but not they changed their numbers and you have to get like 1500 points to get that $15 so I'm only getting $5 every quarter now...

Now alot of people hate maverik gas thinking its the worst but I have been running it for many years and have only once had problems with it... and that was the store in lehi I got some bad prem before going out to the snakes...

discover has a decent cashback bonus program for gas.
I used to work for them so I know the pitch.
I believe it is still
5% cash back on 0-$1,500
3% cash back on $1,501-$3,000
and a full %1 cash back after $3,001
You can redeem it in $20 increments and have it wired to you checking account
I have it and got $60 back from gas last year.

We use the Costco AMEX as our only card and use it almost exclusively to purchase fuel.
The rewards are not as big as the major cards but the fuel at Costco is the same price as the conventional gas station after the discount anyway.

A cool bonus is any electronic you purchase with the AMEX, the warranty is extended by an additional year.

--I think you are a Diesel guy so the Costco deal may not benefit you much unless you already have an AMEX, the Costco AMEX is free from fees with the payment of your Costco membership.--

That's kind of the problem I'm running into. ...and I can only redeem and accrue up to $300 per year.

I have a Chase Visa that gives me 3% back on any fuel, any food, anything automotive related, or home improvement stuff. It gives me 1% back on everything else. Because of that, I use it for everything I can. (including utilities, etc)

It might not have the same return as a purely fuel card, but it's WAY more universal.

Pretty sure that applies to all their electronics purchases, not just with their AMEX card. Or maybe you get an additional year on top of the extra year you already get?

Is that the "Home Improvement" card? That one sounds like what you're describing.

The warranty coverage is not limited to Costco products, but extends to ANY electronic--be it from WalMart, Target, RC Willey, etc.
