I am running a mopar BB and a chrysler 727. not much scout left in mine....

Do you happen to know if there are any adapter kits made to bolt any big block up to a Scout TF 727? My 345 still runs like its new but I want some BB power to turn my 40s. Problem is...I just rebuilt the 727 and I really like it.

If you are going to a mopar just get the BB727 TF case and swap internals. G&S transmission quoted me ~$200. You are going to spend a lot more than that on an adapter (if you can find one).

If you are not going to run a mopar mill, my vote would be to ditch the tf727. Too many good options without adapting. Th400 C6 etc... I would match the tranny to the mill.

Surely someone will come along and insist that the SV 392 is a BB. It is an Ok option, but I have 150 more horses 200 more ft/lbs and weigh 200 lbs less :ugh: with my 451 stroker.

good luck with the swap.

not to highjack your thread but it may be helpfull. i was wondering with full hydro if your motor dies do you lose steering all together?

You don't completely loose your steering, but it sure is harder than hell to turn with a non running engine. Basically, the valve will push the fluid to make the turns, but man it is tough.

You'll have sore arms the next day...

It's worse than manual steering, thats for sure.

I think I have figured out how I am going to build the suspension and keep my hydro assist steering. For now anyway.

Thanks for all the info!

there's a device that is required in Germany to make full Hydro legal. I can't remember exactly what it's called, but it's a big can with a spring and a diaphragm, what it does is provide hydraulic pressure in the event that your engine stops running - obviously it wouldn't work for long, but long enough to let you get off the road.

Thats a sweet idea. I never considered just swapping internals on the 727. Thanks!

I am partial to Ford motors but know one can complain about a stroked 440. I am going to run my 345 for at least next summer. But I am going to keep my eyes open for a 440 to build.
