I have a friend who puts the junk mail "sent" information (minus his personal information) into return envelope and sends it back. I am too lazy...

That action works good for the post office too, now they get paid for the returned mail! Thank you

I do this too. I have a good friend that works for the Post Office, so I do all I can to support him with the unwanted spam mail I get at home. Sometimes I will even send Citi the American Express Spam form just for fun (excluding my personal information).
