 gotta laugh cause I've been there, done that! BUT it was for my brothers old jeep, after we tried (and failed) to stop the leak, he went a paid a shop to replace it...it still leaked when they were done with it :p

Did you use a one piece OEM pan gasket? Also what sealant did you use? Black or the Copper?

One piece seal from Jeep and I used just blue RVT. I think that it's the pan this time, so it might not have sealed right.

hmmm I would never use blue RTV on a pan or valve gasket. Copper has worked the best for me. Did you clean the metal of all oil residue? Alot of times a valve cover will leak in the back down to the pan and look like a pan gasket.

i do beleave that the blue is more meant for water pumps and thermostat housings, the black is more oil resistant and whill probablly hold up better

The Right Stuff. FAR better than any RTV I've used. (it's actually named "The Right Stuff", so search for it)

did you polish the crank where the main seal rides, if it's grooved, you can deep set the seal or soft set the seal so it isn't in the same groove again, or polish it until it seals good again. On a GM one piece rear main, I always soft set them so they don't leak again.

Also basically there are two types of RTV, High temp(usually red) and regular(Black blue yellow orange etc. etc. etc. - and yes "the right stuff" is by far and large the best RTV, but it comes in a pressurized can so most of it is good application. I usually silicone the gasket to the pan, then grease the block side with some "sticky" grease. it resists the oil push and penetrates a paper or cork gasket keeps the oil from coming out - also you can get it back off next time.

It also comes in tubes you use in a caulking gun. I think you get more for your money that way, since you aren't paying for an aerosol can. (it's like a squeeze-cheese can.)

Never had a problem with blue, but I suppose there is a first. Cleaned everything up completely. BUT, I "think" that oil might have dripped onto the RVT on the area it's leaking from :(
