Gas/Diesel prices

I have run through a few gallons of ULSD since June. I saw an increase in fuel mileage in the summer, but I immediately lost close to 2 MPG when we switched to the winter blend. No gelling problems so far, but I have only seen -14 so far. All of my fuel tank gaskets are now leaking quite badly. I burn about 600 gallons a week.

Actually it probably won't change much because they are going to be shutting refineries down for maintenance

That's what they've been saying but, it stinks of the rolling blackouts in CA while the Enron exects laughed while on conference.

Funny thing is, I was buying gas in Ogden in mid Feb for 1.99 and a little over two months later its over $3 NICE

As I was pumping away I couldn't help but wish the worst forms of ass-cancer on anyone who responsible for this gouging. The kind so big the kids can poke it with a stick!

Better yet, my greenie friends laugh at me for driving a gas guzzler instead of a miser/hybrid. They forget everything they have was loaded onto and shipped VIA truck or train and those damn sure weren't hybrids.

Rant/off

Sorry for the post ressurection but it was cathartic

Expensive gas is the only way to spur development of technologies that will move us away from using so much oil. If gas stays at $2 per gallon forever there is no incentive to moving on to better technologies. If ethanol turns out to be then next major source of power the Ol' USA is sitt'n pretty. Nobody can grow crops like we can. We could be the new fuel supplier for the world. All that money we're sending over to countries that hate us we can start sending to midwest farmers. $4 gas will hurt for a while, but it's the only way to kick this nasty habit we have. Bring it on.

I'll put my flame suit on now.

Oh, is the drifter gone?

Ya dude. Smally bought it

did it just get more smug in here? ;)

I don't ***** about gas prices. I choose to drive (and it's a privlidge ;) ). I could use mass transit if I wanted but I don't. When fuel got to be more than I was willing to pay (over 100 a tank in my truck) I bought a commuter.

Pretty much right there with ya Cody. I mean it does suck that fuel is spendy but at the same time it's my choice to drive something that gets 20mpg.
I also have a commuter that gets 35mpg but it's no where near as fun to drive.

i also just picked up a 90 Diesel Jetta that needs an engine and I found a Turbo engine for it. So....
Turbo diesel here I come.

If anyone needs/ wants one I also have a 81 Diesel Rabbit with 74k original miles. A/C 4dr.
Sorry not trying to hijack here. PM me if anyone wants.

You know... the money would stay here if we could drill in Alaska. We have enough oil, its just that we cant move a herd of Caribou a mile. The US has more oil than the middle east, the greenies just wont let us touch it.
