I think I'm "done" for now... every time I look at it there is something that I want to tweak, but I could go wheeling tomorrow so I think that counts as done enough.
I buttoned up a lot of small things this weekend. I remade/reran the rear brake lines and flushed/bled the brakes, trimmed the hood to fit, mounted the rear coilover reservoirs, set the ride height and crossover nuts, nitrogen charged the reservoirs, a couple other odds and ends...
Ended up mounting the winch to the front axle; it fits/clears at full stuff, I think kit should work well.
Gave it a good cleaning, drove it around the block, and there it is... rev 2.0.
I tore this thing down with the goal of improving the suspension, and I ended up having to modify a lot of other things along the way. Regarding the suspension, here's a comparison/numbers before and after.
- Wishbone top links deleted front and rear
- Belly height increase from 17.5" to 20"
- Front coilovers:
- New leading arms with coilover pushed forward
- Spring changed from single 400# to a duel rate setup running 250#/350# (146# combined spring rate)
- Coilovers rebuilt and revalved
- Original droop of 2" increased to 7.5" (strapped to 6.5")
- 7.5" of up travel, 1.25" rubber shaft bump
- Rear coilovers:
- Springs changed from 100#/400# to 125#/200# (77# combined spring rate)
- Coilovers rebuilt and revalved
- Original droop of 4" increased to 9" (strapped to 7.5")
- 9" of up travel, 1.25" rubber shaft bump
Time for a shakedown run, if anyone is interested in coming with to drag my ass out when the whole thing falls to pieces I'd appreciate it
