SO, Thinking of going with a dana 44 front.
Seeing as I wont have a monster motor, what kinda a ratio would work with the two axles.
I have heard nothing but good things with the 5.29 for the toy axles, but there isnt a 5.29 ratio for the dana 44.

How close does the ratio need to be inorder for they to work good. I have seen 4.89 and 4.88 and 4.10 and 4.09's. will these work?

Who makes good gears for this type of application.

Who does a good job of install on a budget?

Well... I can't really "recommend" doing it, but many people in your situation will run 5.29's and 5.38's together with suprisingly good results.

HOWEVER, the rigs I have heard of doing this are dedicated trail rigs and probably will never see a day of on-road driving in 4 HI.

If that sounds too scary, there's always 4.88's...
