Just read on CNN that GM's deal to sell Hummer to a Chinese automaker fell through today. No reason given in the article. GM now plans to completely close down Hummer production. GM sold 9,046 Hummers in 2009.

I always thought they where lame, then my buddies dad got one and we took it out a bunch. I was very impressed with how it wheeled for a "pretty much" stock vehicle. I guess it makes sense, 135 inch wheel base, 2 lanes wide and 40 inch tires(the tires are the "pretty much" stock part) ever since then I've wanted one

I always thought the H3 was a good looking rig and I heard it wheeled well. Terrible tiny little periscope like windows really sucked though. Never liked the monstrous H2. Hate to see any 4w company go under.

I will admit that the H3 (not the H3T) is my favorite of the GM'd Hummers, but they are still not "cool" by any means :) GM Hummers will not be missed by me at all.

Maybe it will drive down the price of the older H1s so I can finally get one and convert it over to nuclear power.

The H2 is a pointless rig, in my opinion. H1s are cool, but unrealistic.

The H3 and H3T are cool, and I am sad to see them go. Like was said, the loss of any 4x4 company is a loss. Very few factory vehicles with lockers etc out there, and pressure from one company will make others better.

I'd love an H1.. if they were about $30k instead of $100k. ;)

Unrealistic? I don't know. I don't get any mileage out of anything I own anyway... are they wide? yup, you bet they are. But in Utah? I think they'd do fine for a lot of good adventure travel... hold enough to camp with, make a good base for RTT's, etc.

But not for the buy-in. :D

H1 was/is a great vehicle for what it was designed for: All purpose high-speed desert machine. When you get outside of those parameters, they are less attractive. I agree completely that the H2 was a pointless poser device. I'd rather have a built up Tahoe or Suburban than one of those. Ambivalent on H3.

The H3 has probably the worst motor gm has ever produced. It is beyond gutless in the canyon so I can only imagine a fat assed H3 with that hampster cage in it. GM ruined the Hummer the moment they bought the brand.

Almost bought a 2006 H3 a couple months ago but decided to go with the 06 Tacoma instead, very glad I made the decision I did, I love my Taco.

Well after hauling them several yrs, there heavy and hard to see out of, the H2 is built on the tahoe platform and the H3 is on the trailblazer platform. Just not as desirrable. I'm a true chevy fan but im not sad seeing them go. They remind me of the little man sendrom, you know 5' nothing hopping out of the 18" lifted truck on 44" trolling for chicks at the local mall.
