The NP263 transfer cases that GM produced are famous for the pump rubbing a hole thru the case and spraying all the fluid out. You can fix or replace the tail shaft of the transfer case but it doesn't fix the real problem of the pump rub. The fix is a very simple shim that sits between the pump and case preventing any contact between the two. I bought a shim for my Duramax but never got around to installing it.
