I need a favor from you folks... one of my best friends recently moved back to Utah under unfavorable circumstances and is now looking for a job. He's a smart kid, graduated from BYU with a bachelors degree, has worked in the insurance field and he recently got his Class A CDL.

He's looking for almost anything that pays decent in either UT or SLC valley. He'd really like something in the medical field, long-term goal is to become a nurse thru IHC. He is willing to drive a truck in the meantime, but isn't interested in over the road driving. I'd vouch for his character & will put in a personal refrence for him.

Please, if you know of any jobs that are out there let me know by posting up or sending me a PM. Thanks for the help.

I could point him in the right direction of where to go to start driving for the warehouse at Kennecott or even one of the Haul trucks. Both have they're pro's and con's and of course the Haul truck drivers make alot more than the delivery drivers I heard some turned over 100k last year:eek: Last I heard the'yre starting the delivery drivers around $15

That sounds like something worth pursuing, who would he need to contact?

Haul truck drivers are hired through work force services, I've got people that owe me favors up at the mine so I'll get some particulars if thats what he wants to pursue. Delivery guys are hired through Pro drivers and my desk is at the warehouse so if thats what he wants to pursue I could give him some pointers on how to get on there I know they are looking for warehouse people now not 100% sure on drivers either way shoot his resume over to me.

Oh and so he know both are 24/7 365 jobs which is something that scares some away from Kennecott

Whats's his Bachlors in?

Community Health Education. He has a great deal of experience working in physical therapy & that was going to be his thing, but he changed his mind & decided to gear the degree towards something that could be hospital-management related.

My Wife's cousin drives a haul truck at Kennecott, make decent money. I don;t doubt some of the LONG time drivers are making $100K+ but he's been driving for 6 or 7 years and makes maybe $30/hr. His dad is (used to be) the Union representative (Wayne Holland) so that's how he got on, he now says that if he had known how the work environment is he never would have started but he's making more now than he could anywhere else with his education (none).

As for jobs, my company is always hiring, currently we are averaging about a person a day. With a good college background he can start out makeing pretty good money. He can get the info to apply through our website www.rastar.com, most jobs aren't listed on there so he should just send a resume in.

I talked to Jeremy about a job w/ Wally World. They want very experienced drivers & he's not very experienced. Also its OTR and he doesn't want that. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I'll let him know about Rastar, is there a general starting wage or is it dependant on the job?

It really depends on the job and the experience. We have jobs that start at $8/hr and we also have jobs that start at over $100/hr (obviously this is salary at that point).

I work at the IHC central laundry and we have three trucks that make pickup and delivery runs to the IHC hospitals in Utah.
They start about 4 am and are usually done by noon.
I'll check tommorrow to see if thy are going to hire any one in the near future.
