UPDATE: IHC only test 3 people at a time. So we have 3 right now in the testing process. After them then Eve will go after the next 3. My wife seems to think that it will be 3 more years till transplant, I'd rather not have her wait that long.

Sooooo gotta bump this cause Angie is still in need of a kidney. She has now been on dialysis for 4 years. We almost had a match with my kid brothers new wife.:-\ (Hi, welcome to the Thompson family, spare a kidney?) One bit of good news is that Angie is getting eye surgery next month to correct her double vision. She has a 85%+ chance that it will fix her vision problem.

Interesting fact: IHC can not by law chase after donors. As in advertise the need for kidney donors. Stupid laws.

I've had to force the issue with IHC to allow myself to be a donor for anyone else. They told me that maybe it wouldn't be a good idea with our current situation. I told them I could use a few days off. Besides I get a cool little scar, some drugs and the chance to walk around in a hospital gown mooning people.

Time for a little update. Sorry I have updated this in a while, the Transplant Team made a change in personnel that slowed things down. We found out that my wife has a high amount of anti bodies in her body. On a 1-100 scale, Angie is a 96-98. We were worried that that meant a no go for transplant, but that's not true. So Angie is still on the "List" for the transplant, just going to take some time to find a match. I am signed up with the paired exchange program with our transplant team. That means I will donate mine to someone else in the program, most likely a out of state patient. Then the Paired Exchange Program has to find a kidney for my wife. The transplant team is excited as they have just signed up with this program.

Thanks for the update Joe. Glad to hear things are still progressing. She sure looked good on the High 5 segment that Channel 5 did.

orange juice:confused: i thought wiskey worked best to thin you blood (j/k)
will do . any more fyi's i should know

Just wait till have to keep a "pee jug" in the fridge for 24hr urine sample.

A donor can plan on a hospital stay of 3-5 days, with 1-3 weeks recovery time. It takes some time to get all the testing done and can be frustrating. IHC basically has to try to talk you out of doing this, because of the legal reasons. You have to convince them as to why you want to do it. You can always always opt out. I do not want to guilt trip anyone into doing this.

Well I just got told that I can not donate my kidney because of 2 kidney stones I had back in 2005.:-\ Back to square one. Anyone can donate in my wifes behalf in the paired kidney exchange program. This will elevate the priority of wifes case and help her get one sooner.
