Funny i didnt think i was going overly fast with all the detours and stuff. He says it was a 25mph area which he might be right though it was not posted on the roads i drove. I figured 35 once i got passed the school anyone know what the speed limmit is in residential not posted anywhere? Claims i was going 9 mph over speed limmit i know the games they play and stuff. This is my first ticket ive been driving for 18 years now. What kind of fines would this cost and could it affect my insurance.

What games?

Also if it's your first ticket see if AF has a class where if you plead obaience (sp) they make you go to a class for a couple hours, and it never hits your Insurence. I got a ticket for 10 over in Spanish Fork, and thats what i did cost me $10 more to take the class but it didn't effect my insurence.

I bet you were going 40+ in a 25mph zone and he wrote it for 9 over, c'mon tell us the truth

Yeah I agree. He figured it was 35 so he was probably going 41.
He got a ticket for 9 over for going almost twice the limit... lucky if you ask me.

I dont think he got me on radar as he was passing me going the other direction

Was a nice enough guy just doing his job but i seriously doubt he could have accuratley gotten my actual speed. I read the ticket and says LEHI area lol man those detours got me messed up. Ticket says call this number after 5-9 days?

They work like that ;) They can't clock you if you are going away from them though, unless they have a laser... but those are out of the price range for most towns.

That would be "plea in obeyance". You plead guilty but the Judge retracts the guilt upon your satisfactory compliance with a set of terms. For example the judge tells you if you don't get any speeding tickets for one full year then this speeding ticket will not be put on your record. They usually make you pay the full fine still though.

tottaly wrong, radar can be run coming towards, heading away and at a stand still. Must be atleast a 45* for it to lock on.

Utahxjer can correct me if I am wrong, but I thought I remember seeing lasers at Lehi PD when I took my cub scouts for a tour.

Perhaps, but considering that UHP only has a few and they have to check them out to do a speed trap... errr... speed enforcement on the freeway, I doubt that LPD has many hanging around.

So did you get the ticket in Lehi or AF? I set my radar detector when I drive Lehi's residential streets. My only ticket in the last 10 years was the Lehi speed trap on 700 South. I got cited for 9 over in a 25 and it cost me $50. So I guess it depends on what your time is worth.

As for the insurance, the ticket will only show up if you are looking to change insurance carriers or add a driver or some major change. There is no system that automatically reports traffic tickets to the insurance carrier, even if there is an accident. The carrier can pull your MVR but they don't usually do that without a reason. Especially when the insured is a lily white drivers whose never had a ticket. Unless you have Bear River.
