Nothing, it's the only thing i own of any value that might interest off-roaders. I decided i want my s10 to be 4wd more than i want a 900 horsepower Camaro.
Last night i bolted a steel 15x7 off a 97 S10 onto my redrilled Explorer axle, already fitted with a 235/75 that needs replaced, but i wanted to see and measure clearance, before committing to 31x10.5s.
I was unaware that Duck Commander was something about a sponoff tv show based on Duck Dynasty, I thought it would be a practical joke that might make other drivers laugh or ask what the heck.
I really want to scrimp and save for a new set of Dick Cepek Extreme Country tires.
I found a D30HP from a 95 Cherokee for $ 150 including the steering and brakes, it already has a 3.54 ratio. My Explorer rear under my s10 has 3.27s, but my 03 E150 has a 3.55-geared 8.8 with a freshly rebuilt Traction-Lock.
So i bought a used pair of steel 8- lug 16x7s off an 02 E350, i will be putting my 14-bolt under my van. I have a pair of 245/75 A/Ts for it. Then the van 8.8 housing can go under my 94 Camaro, nearly the same width between the wheels.
It will be a lot of work, but will save me a lot of money, and make all 3 of these vehicles more capable.
I do read most of the other build thread updates every week, but i really have no useful comments. So thanks to everyone who reads mine.
I have been playing with my 305, nothing i try has gotten it to run right, i am not new to tuning mild SBC V8s, so maybe this cam is just too aggressive for a 305. I have settled on a new Comp 12-231-2, Extreme 4x4, hydraulic flat tappet, 250/258, 206/214, 111+4, 432/453, $123. But i am going to take advantage of my new Cloyes timing set and install it at 111.
I once had an L69, same heads and flattop pistons as i have now, and it had good off-idle and good top-end, with good mpg, using an exhaust opening of 37* and an intake closing of 36*. Installing the 12-231 at 111 gives an eo of 38 and an ic of 34, fairly close. I could do a blow through turbo eventually, and this would match well, and be cheaper than a Vortec 350 from Pick-N-Pull.
Plus this lets me keep my 305 in the truck, keep my exhaust manifolds on it, and these reduce downtime and hassles.
My 454 is partially disassembled, i just bought it as a bare long block assembly. I wanted to try the port injection intake manifold, but couldn't afford it.
And if anyone needs help with porting, welding, or setting up a ring & pinion, around SLC, shoot me a pm.
