Gov Shutdown and Moab

Does anyone know if any of the campgrounds or jeep trails are closed due to gov shutdown? What's the status of the sand flats area?

Sand Flats is open, the National Parks are closed.

Gov Herbert struck a deal, they will be open tomorrow for 10 days or so. Check KSL for all details, but here's the gist -

"SALT LAKE CITY — Utah's five national parks will reopen Saturday morning after the state reached an agreement with the Department of the Interior late Thursday to run them for as many as 10 days.

Also set to reopen with Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef and Zion national parks are Cedar Breaks and Natural Bridges national monuments and the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, which includes Lake Powell."

Yeah, the state will be providing the funding to keep the areas open for the next 10 days, hoping Congress does something to get things moving.
