gps tracking question

Is there a way to track a phone number via gps through phone call?
Im selling an item and i wouldn't give my address to just any Joe, so he said hold on Im tracking your number via gps.. took my by surprise I ended the call soon after that.

So.. is some one playing me up or is there something out there that can do this for a civilian to use?

I know there are android lost phone things and 911 tracker stuff but that is all i know.

That's why I always wrap my phone in Tinfoil.

With the right amount of access anything is possible. You just need to decide if they have that access or if they are pulling your leg. The immediate question to the I can track you response is "when will you be here?" Call them back for status updates until they show up. Even if I had the access I wouldn't ever indicate that I could track someone. What benefit does that provide me? If I wanted to purchase something the last thing I want to do is make someone paranoid it's not polite. They aren't exactly anonymous, they called you, I hope you aren't accepting unknown or out of area phone calls or sending them to voice-mail and calling them back. A pissed off seller is likely to go to the nearest truck stop and make "For a good time call " leaflets to put in all the bathrooms.

I can track your phone if I have access to it first and install a tracker app but just some random stranger, nope.

With all the privacy concerns running around, he cannot. If he was a person that had that access, he sure would not make the thread. They can triagulate, but it is not perfect, nor does the normal "Joe" have access.
