lol too poor to be having a droid phone or blackberry type of phone. the reason im asking is that my parents insist on trying to chear me up after all thats been going on this last weekend and they want to buy something small that I want and thats a gps where I can use it on the road and quit using mapquest and also something I could use offroad while hiking or wheeling.

Delorme or Garmin units are small and compact. I use the Delorme PN40 and it has maps on board just hard to see such a small screen and keep your eyes on the road.
There for quite awhile I used my unit to connect into my laptop so I had a larger screen to look at but it become a hassle to constantly unplug while geocaching. Then I switched to the Delorme LT40 and it is dedicated to the laptop to get us there and then switch to the PN40 for hiking and geocaching.

lots of great reviews come up on that delorme pn40 and the garmin nuvi 500 thanks guys. both must be fairly new not to have too cheap units through refurbish or anything.

Get a Nuvi 2450 or higher. then buy TOPO! and load it into the nuvi. The Nuvi 500 is more expensive and has a smaller screen.

I have a nuvi 1350 and I've been pleased with it for road trips and Moab trails. I've done a few tricky trails during the day and then again at night and having the previous tracks was super nice

Backcountry Navigator or Gia GPS on your Droid phone :)

once again Doss, thanks for pointing me to these two apps, they've replaced my desire/need to purchase a GPS. Plus, they are AWESOME on my tablet. If my tablet didn't have GPS, I wouldn't own it.
