What is the axle disconnect? My thinking is that we have a friend who might sell me his grand wagoneer, not sure of year, and i was thinking of taking the axle housings and getting a superior upgrade for them and putting them under my XJ.

The vacuum thingy that doesn't work right most of the time. It's only been on rigs for about 20 years now and still has reliability issues.

only the '83s and '84s had the disconnect. 81-82 and 85-91 are the good ones with the driver's drop.

yep, I'll second this info...and you still may find an odd ball in the 83-84 that didn't have the disco...I have seen a couple at PNP...
