Bristle cone pines! Dated back to the time of Christ. Cristal ball caves, if you can arrange a private tour. There is an amazing spring in the area that you can swim up into two small caverns, that is if you are not hydro-claustrophobic. I was there when I was 14 so I can't be of much help on directions. The wheeler peak drainage/valley is most frequented, I hear that there are more secluded and just as breathtaking areas if you explore to the west.

Of course I will go see the Bristle cone pines. I can't believe I forgot to mention that. I think I will try that springs cave thing.

The Wheeler Peak camground is at 9,800 feet so the hikes to the Briselcones and a couple of lakes are easy for kids.
The park is on the Nevada side outside of Baker.

When we were out there a little over a year ago we did the Lehman cave tour, Wheeler peak ride, a trail ride that was south of the Lehman caves (very brushy) and then we camped in Snake Creek area where there are some very nice primitive camping spots along the creek. We were there in May so the upper camping areas had lots of snow. We ran Cat canyon on our way home.

Hike to the top of Wheeler Peak. My wife, sons, and I did this twice many years ago when we lived in Utah. Lots of fun and great views in all directions. Visit the Notch Peak area back some miles to the east of the Wheeler area. Used to be an easy 4w trail on Notch Peak's east side from where you could hike to the top. Once again amazing views.

I've been to both of those caves when I was about 14 as well. I'll try to see if I can find where they are & let ya know Mesha. Very cool caves but the go under water & come up in a little chamber is spooky.

Edit, found out that Crystal ball cave is in Gandy info here

The water cave is just south of this Crystal ball cave. It could be Warm Creek springs???

Crystal ball cave is in the middle of some "ownership" and "management" disputes so it is not open to the public currently.

If you want the GPS coords to the springs PM me :)

I was talking to one of the disputees and trying to figure something out but looks like a no go.

I would like the GPS coordinates. Even though my GPS is on loan for about 2.5 months now maybe I can get it back.

We ended up doing quite a bit of stuff while we were there. We hiked to the bristlecone pine grove, teresa lake, the glacier, and the oceaola ditch. We did lehman cave and beware cave as well. On the way back instead of taking highway 6/50 we decided to go through callao into ibapahandinto wendover. We were going to stay in wendover, but there wasw a speed thing going on and the only room we found was 170 bucks. got home last night.

highlights for me were bristlcone pines these trees are amazing. some were 4000 years old.
I loved that the park is free. thats right no entrance fee.
It was cool to see a park that is so layed back. the rangers were around but very cool.
I liked the warm spring. the cave was cool and the water felt nice. it was colder than I expected.

my wifes (Jami) highlights
she loved lehman cave and the bristlcones.
She was a little upset she didn't bring a pole to fish in the little creek by our camp.
she loved the night sky. We have never seen stars like that. She even loved my astronomy lesson (nerd).

litle Davy's (4 years old) highlights
He became a junior ranger which he is super excited about. He wears his badge proudly.
He loved the "two horned buck" that hung around by our camp.
The huckleberry ice cream at the shop next to lehman cave is awesome.

Cedars (16 months) highlights
She like being carried everywhere in the kid carrier.
She liked eating dirt.

It was a great trip. Next time we hope to hike to the arch at the other end of the park. We would like to do some of the wild caves. We would also like to visit the baker archeological site.
