Filled the truck last night. Computer said 18mpg, hand calculation said 17.7mpg. Pretty dang close, and I did not fill it the first time so who knows how full they filled it.
Kind of funny to look at the computer and see 658 miles to empty
.I think a taco is out of the budget so I'm thinking Ford Ranger

We're much better now. We've been averaging about a weekend a month in the trailer.
First trip was two nights in a KOA in Brigham City for the system test.
Next up a couple nights in Logan Canyon (way, way, too busy of a road)
Then Stillwater campground in the Uinta's followed by Lost Creek in the Uinta's (Met DAA and his family for burgers)
Lastly was Vernal for three nights. (pictures here http://www.rme4x4.com/showthread.php?99936-Vernal&highlight=vernal)
And still on tap for this year is Thanksgiving weekend in Goblin Valley, weather permitting.
Next year we'd like to do about two weeks in the Oregon/Washington area and maybe Glacier the year after.
I do miss wheeling and primitive camping a bit so I may look for a spare seat some weekend. I picked up a Kodiak tent and the truck is suitable for light wheeling such as roads in the Swell and such.

BTW... I sold a much beloved motorcycle this summer in order to pay for a travel trailer, for similar reasons.
It's way different than any kind of camping I've ever done before, but my family absolutely loves it and I'm learning to enjoy it as well. Will definitely mean less of the kind of wandering I've been doing, but, that's okay. Already have plans (campground reservations made...), to skip my bowhunt next year and use a week of vacation to take the family to Yellowstone in the trailer.

Awesome! glad to hear it. I was hoping your plan hadn't failed you.
I have a camping trailer and never use it. We took it out to the book cliffs once for the bow hunt this year, but other than that it sits in the back. We camp a lot, but trailers are just a bunch of extra work.

I put E rated 275/70r18 Michelin LTX M/S2's on since the stock Goodyear Wrangler SR/A's were not suitable for a max payload. Much better, but I want from a 65 to 70 profile (32" to 33") so the computer is off a bit and the tires weigh 15lbs more each. It shows about 17.3 for my commute and during the month I've had them on the truck my only highway mileage has been towing the trailer. Truck now has 6000 miles and 1500 have been with the trailer in tow. I'm still very pleased with how the truck pulls but my how the gas mileage drops when towing. Draper to Vernal was 8.7mpg, return trip was 9.5mpg, good thing it has a 36 gal tank. That said, easily holding 55 @ 3000 rpm on the way up to Bald mountain pass at 10,000ft with more than 8000# in tow is worth the price of the gas.

This is way cool to hear. I love my supercrew and can relate to doing the family thing. That's a big reason that I still have my eXcursion. And I know how great the supercrew is to live with and think a lot about how well suited it would be to towing a one of those hybrid trailers with the ATV/dirt bike rack on the front.
Plus, while I'd love a JKU, I often wonder if I'd really get one and not a Raptor, since a Raptor would actually do whatever I'd be using the JKU for. I've had my Supercrew quite a few places offroad that remind me that a full size pickup can do ok if you pick the right line. Plus the locker in yours would help.
