I have the IC2200H and have been quite pleased with it, I raised one of our group during a trip in the SRS, We were on Black Dragon IIRC, One of our group had a slight fall and went into town, I cant remember if it was Feron or the other town near by, But I was able to communicate on Simplex.
Good luck on your purchase

I have the ft2200 and its all I need... It has 50 watts and I never even use that much... I usually have it set for like 1 watt or so...(not sure of the lowest setting) and it hits all the repeaters just fine...

When up near whitney lake I had to call in a fire and got the repeaters in Evanston just fine on 5 watts... thats like 50 miles away. I usually can hit the Moab repeaters from green river or so...

So no real big need for 75 watts imho....

So...what repeater does everyone hang out on?

For a while, I monitored the 19, the 62, and also the Sinbad repeater that recently moved to Lake Mtn, oh, and a repeater on Butterfield that is linked to Ensign and Mt Lewis.

However, for the last 6 months my daily driver has been a company truck with no radio so I got out of the habit.

Is anyone in the SDARC (Sinbad) club? (oops, need to send my dues) They have the repeaters in eastern Utah, including around Moab and the SRS.

I've got the Yaesu Ft 2800 and really like it. I bought it used for $85. I still need to fully learn how to use it - like keying up to repeaters. ;) Kurt and I could chat on 5-10w from my old place in Sugarhouse to his house easily on Simplex. I've been sitting downtown SL at lunch, and picked up transmissions from as far south as Pleasant Grove - IIRC on Simplex.

Thats because Kurt has a Suh-WEET J-Pole set up :)
We use to have monthly HAM rag chews with Wasatch Cruisers, We haven't had one for a bit, I would like to use my radio a bit more, I've also been reading up on my General test book, Again.

The J-Pole does work really well, I'm planning on attaching it to my shed so I can have a base radio in the shop, one that is less temporary with than my current gig.

I'd be up for another ham chew.
