35's required?

In the words of the great Barney Stinson: "Challenge accepted!"

The wife is on board with going so I don't see anything stopping me. Kevin, you better make it happen. Hopefully Mike is coming too but he sucks so you never know.

If you read my first post I said cherokees on 33 should be fine and was directed at you in the first place. I was hoping you would be able to make and will probably own the trail in your cherokee. If others want to run the trail with smaller tires that's there choice but it might me a long day with lots of straps. This trail has LOTS of diff hangers on it and lots of potential for damage. I just want others to know the risk of damage and breakage before they go on it and trash there rig and come out upset instead of not having fun. Full Discloser if you know what I mean.

So it looks like it is going to work out for me to go. Lets meet at the Maverick at 7:45 in the AM with rollout from there to trail around 8:15. It is a long hard trail and seems like we are going to have quite a few rigs. So I want to get an early start. If it looks like we are going to have a lot of people we will change the meeting place to Walmart Parking lot.

Here is Who I have so far.

Any spare seat for a guy to hop? I'll bring the XJ anyway, but I don't think 235s can entertain it.. nevertheless I'd like to check out for experience before I decide whether to put 33s or 35s.

I am sure you are. You are going to have to leave pretty early in the morning or stay the night friday night.

I'm staying Friday night for this reason. Not sure where but I assume we'll camp somewhere. Hopefully it doesn't suck

Kevin, I forgot to ask if we should unload at the trail head or somewhere else?

Yes, our group has camped at the trailhead before (not really the "trial head" cause that's pretty far up the canyon, but we camped close to the parking area). Its private property so just be aware and mind your manners and you should be fine (also its free range on some of the gravel roads going in, I've tried to not disrupt the animals when I've seen them on the roads).

There is actually a little camping area where the local horse riders have camped a little ways up the trail from where everyone typically unloads their trailers (probably a 1/4 from the farm fields). This area was on the right hand side as you go into the canyon, but before you did the first ditch crossing. It provides some cleared ground for tents and a rock fire pit in addition to getting way from the local livestock and sheep dogs.

hmmm depends on the groups really. Min, 4hr max 6hr

if your coming back down is super quick vs driving the fire roads out.

I have never come back down the trail. It is rough for us smaller rigs going up. Will be harder on them going back down. I am sure for larger rigs its really not a problem. Hopefully we get a local to take us out the top as it might be longer but definitely smoother.

I wouldn't think it would be that hard for a smaller rig on 35's, there is only one ledge that's hard to get up, so therefore it would need equal attention to get down, but by no means very bad. That location (while going up) is located after "car dump" & where most people stop to eat lunch. (as seen at 14:14 of the BE movie from 16Jun2012)
