Happy Birthday to RME!!

Woohoo! Happy Birthday RME! Thank you so much Greg for doing such a great job on this place. I know I for one spend WAY too much time here, but it's better than watching soap operas all day! :D Seriously though, this is a killer place to hang out plus we've met so many wicked cool people on here and have had many unforgettable trips. So I raise my boot glass to you Mr. Gardner and thank you again!! :)

Once upon a time, this knucklehead named Greg showed up on the PBB peddling some spam about a cult he created. Sorta a group of antisocial mountain-dwelling survivalists, and they had a forum. Greg somehow avoided being flamed out of existence for pimping another forum........

Once the site was functional & we were getting some traffic, I posted on POR for opinions. It was good, actually. I PM'd alot of people on POR that lived in UT. ;) It worked!

Someone mentioned fairly early on the potential negative tone the word "extremists" could have, so it was changed to the current. Herzog found his way here somehow, and the look and feel changed drastically. (I'm not sure if that coincided with the software change or if it came later)

Yeah, that 'extremists' thing was my bad. I saw what Shane was putting together with his Bent Metal 4Wheelers & was glad when he offered to help.

When the software and URL changed, all the OG's had to re-register.

We have always ran vBulletin software, I had seen other sites transition from free forum programs & decided to do it right the first time. The problem was that our 'cheap' host cleaned off his server after getting a late payment. We had NO backup, and about 250-300(?) members at that point. :-\ I almost gave up on RME.

I was there fairly early, I know Supergper and Rockmonkey were also....

Yep seems like that was ages ago!

I remember RME started off as just a little sub-section of Greg's site (was it even RME.com?). He had (I think) some pics, maybe a little tech and such. Good times. I honestly don't remember how I found it originally but I know I was one of the first, and then after the host wiped us out, I was one of the first again :p (there was a couple month break in there right Greg?)

Yeah, that was the very beginning... remember Jeds Flatty 'Feature'? :ugh:

RME was offline for 2 months, I think. I really had to debate if I were going to start it up again.
