I was suprised to find out that about 1/5th of the company I work for served. That's out of about 70 people. It's amazing to me the numbers of young veterans there are. Typically when one hears 'veteran' they think of a WWII or Korean war vet.
Huge thank you to all those who have, and who currently do serve! I love to hear stories and experiences that folks encounter while in the service. A large part of me has always wanted to join a branch of the military, but I haven't.... Yet? Who knows.
I'm sittin here waiting my turn for a hair cut, so I've got time to ramble..
1hile I was in Florida I crossed paths with a gentleman that I'd read books about and idolized for years. He served in a top secret group named SOG, during the Vietnam war. He was the first guy to jump out of a plane at high altitudes and perform a HALO jump.. Anyways, I got to sit down with him for dinner one night and hear stories from his days behind enemy lines. Absolutely amazing what our soldiers have, do, and will go through to protect my freedoms.
Thank you
