I’ve had nothing but bad experiences with aftermarket headlights. They always seem to get glitchy or the seals leak or don’t fit right, or rattle........Just my .02 but I have always wondered why someone would rather do a headlight restoration versus buying aftermarket options? Most vehicles now a days have aftermarket options out there, and are pretty reasonably priced. Now, that being said, certain vehicles do not, and a restoration kit is more than likely cheaper. Me personally after getting the restoration kit, and then the time spent doing it, I would rather slap in some nice aftermarket options.
The lights do look really nice after a restoration though.

Plan on about 1 1/2 to 2 hours depending on how bad they are. The first stage is the scariest. You hit them with the 500 grit and think “I have ruined my head lights” but they do get better. I bought some Meguiars plastic X headlight polish to use instead of the small tube that comes with the kit. It’s mostly just time consuming. These are my kids Saturn after each stage.I need to do this to my truck's headlights. Do you have any recommendations for someone who has not tried this before?
These are my Subaru’s after maybe 2 years. They weren’t that bad to start with though.I'm curious how long it'll last, I did this to my wife's Lexus that had foggy headlights and it seems like they fog/haze up pretty quickly afterwards.
And it’s garaged. These are my Subaru’s after maybe 2 years. They weren’t that bad to start with though.
