Last weekend Ogre Palowakski and I went to visit relatives in Phoenix Az. We went thru Kanab Utah. We took highway 89 alternate that goes directly south from Kanab, insead of highway 89 thru Page Az. The alternate takes you past the Vermilion Cliffs and the Rock Houses that were built against boulders in the 1930's. I did find out how important it is to watch your speed in Arizona. 14 mph over is $177 bucks. i did get a picture of the red and blues thru the rear view mirror.
When in Phoenix we went with our mother and cousin to the Heart Attack Grill. What a novelty this place is. When you go in you are greeted by a ''nurse'' dressed nicely, that puts a hospital gown on you as well as a band around your wrist that says '' I had a bypass at the Heart Attack grill''. This place is bad for your health! This was as much fun as you can have being a glutton! Frys cooked in lard. Huge burgers. No diet Coke. I chose the Quad Bypass burger. two pounds of meat. the burger dipped in the lard. Gobs of cheese. It was rated at 8000 calories. You can add your own toppings. I chose no toppings because if you can eat the whole thing, your nurse will take you out to your car in a wheelchair. I was racing a guy from Australia who also had a Quad. They had flown from Las Vegas just to eat there.
When Ogre got done with his Double Bypass burger, he looked at me and said: ''I feel like s..t''. I was as far along as he was, but I had twice as much burger as he did. I told him that i felt the same as he. As I was finishing my third patty, Aussie guy had quit. Smart guy! As I was coming down the stretch, I noticed that I had about 15 people watching me. perhaps some betting was going on as well. I should have gotten in on the gambling, I could have used a few bucks. Besides, i was gambling weather or now I would have soiled some clothes before I was done. I'm glad I didnt, as I was wearing my Crawlfest 2010 tee shirt. (this is a trip report ya know)
I finished the burger, stood up in the victory pose and got several people clapping for me.My nurse then pushed me to the parking lot for a photo op moment. If you ever get a chance to go to Phoenix, you might want to try the place!
We drove home a different way, choosing to drive over the Hoover Dam, and then thru Las Vegas. Lots of beautifull country in Arizona.
Here is my photobucket pictures. Sorry some are not related to the story. Too much trouble to edit the pics.
