Sunday, October 19th-10:00 am. Helldorado trail. Four rigs: three Samurai's and one Jeep, a couple of passengers, and a few spectators from the Shriner group came out to watch the show on the Helldorado trail in Area BFE south of Moab.
All I can say is WOW! Helldorado is quite a trail.
The Gate Keeper was deceptively easy this time, allowing everyone safe passage into Helldorado only to make them pay further down the trail as you will see.
Here's RedRoxx and this author making short work of the Gate Keeper.
The squeeze was a little tight for RedRoxx but we found a way through eventually.
Lots of lost paint, a few dents, and rocking and pushing the Sami’s by hand over Break-Over challenge when they got stuck. Here's a photo of Jim in the Bad Cat getting a little help.
The Jeep had to pull itself out with the winch as the Samurais couldn't pull its big boned self off of break over (it needs a diet plan but don’t we all).
Gary Lee was the only one to successfully crawl the waterfall obstacle. Nicely done and we have the photos to prove it!
The first one is of Jeff climbing (maybe there's a winch line, I'm not sure) up the waterfall. It really shows how steep this obstacle really is. Very scary, even winching up it.
Here's Gary Lee's attempt.
Nice Job and too funny!!
Other than crushing my hydo-assist line and caps against the rocks, all went well. (This happened on the last rock of the day after the spectators went home) :-\
A little rattle canning is now in order and Woman Driver needs a little body work to get her passenger door to close. Super fun day!! This is a great trail and I was very impressed by the difficulty. If you haven't given it a shot, I highly recommend it.
Thanks,
Melissa
